Back in NYC this week. Took the red eye from Seattle. I went for a run through Central Park waiting for my room to be ready. I was surprised how good I felt given how little sleep I got on the flight. I came back to the gym and did some weights and exercises. It's the beginning of my taper which I always dread. I'm still not sure I think a taper is the best approach. I'm compromising this time by making it a two-week taper rather than a three-weeker.

I hate 3 week tapers, I always feel like it is way to long and feel unmotivated by the time the marathon comes. I like the 2 week one better. You sure do travel alot.

Trying to taper while traveling sucks....I spent the last 2 weeks before Sunday's marathon in VA working. Just accept all the doubts, mysterious pains, etc. that'll crop up and flush them a few days prior. You'll do great.

Do you have a website up for your 10K in August? What are the dates? I'm definitely in as long as I'm in town, if only to support a fellow blogger!

I was thinking about running the Tri-Cities Marathon in October....it looks pretty flat and I only worry about the "every 4th year" winds but 1 in 4 odds sound pretty decent right now. I'd like to get below 3 hours before I start going to the bigger races. Call it an easily bruised ego...

the only reason I didn't reco the Tri Cities was because it can have hefty winds. I would suggest the Vancouver BC marathon but that's in only four weeks. It's flat and fast.

I though Vancouver was May 4th. Different Vancouver?

The 10K is only a week after the NW Passage Relay but it's on my calendar now. I'll try to figure out soon if I'm going to run or volunteer (assuming I can get my boss to tell me if I'll be in town or not). I hope you don't lose folks to the new Tacoma Narrows Half on that same date.

The Tri-Cities winds are the one big worry I've got. I've thought about the Victoria BC marathon in Oct, but it looks like it's got some smaller rollers and travel logistics would be tougher to manage.
