Ran the Wasatch Crest trail with Jun and Enoch this morning and had the BEST sunrise of the year on the top of Scott Hill. The moon was full above all of the spectacular Wasatch Peaks with an amazing alpenglow to the west, and the sky was lit up with oranges and reds with the sun rising in the east.  The trail was incredible with wildflowers and everything is so green because of all of the June rain. It was a fantastic day.  I finished the route in 1:41 after Jun and just before Enoch.

We did have some significant elevation gain at the start of the trail and my lungs were definitely feeling it with this cough I have had, but once we hit the downhill it was fun and much easier.

Another note: I don’t think you have truly lived until you have had a ‘dirt bag’ shower in the sink at the Big Cottonwood Park-n-ride and the free soap actually smells nice.

Please enlighten us on what constitutes a 'dirtbag shower'. I can guess, but I think others would be interested to know.

As long as you didn't touch the creek, that is our watershed you know. HA HA

It was a really good time! Way to get out, too bad you are a still feeling the effects of your cough.

As you know, a ‘dirt bag’ shower= Climbers that live out of their cars for weeks at a time often refer to their exploits as ‘dirtbaggin’ and while engaged in such activities they must improvise and shower any way possible. This could include rivers, lakes, water bottles, gas station bathrooms or the more luxurious KOA campground. In this case I had to strip down as far as I felt comfortable (enough to ensure I wouldn’t be arrested) and use the sink to wash my hair and body and then I utilized a t-shirt for my towel. I also did apply deodorant in the parking lot and I made it to work smelling fresh and clean.

Sounds like the perfect run! Where did you start and finish? I usually start at Guardsman and end up in Millcreek. Sounds like you might have done the opposite.

We started at Guardsman and at Dog Lake we took the Mill D trail back to the trailhead. Next time I think we my try going all the way out Millcreek. That trail is sooo much fun.

I have not tried that route, it is pretty steep from Dog Lake to Mill D. Acouple of weeks ago we started at Gaurdsman and went down to Desolation lake and out Mill D. Finishing up at Mill D sure saves time on the car shuttling. Nice.

I made a mistake, we actually did do the route you did as well. I meant to say Desolation and not Dog. :-) It was great fun.

I'm going again on Saturday, but running a loop from Mill D up the road to Upper Mill trailhead and then that route back down. Everyone should come along.
