Lake Mountain with MattV

I met Matt at 7:00 am for a run up Lake Mountain. I love this run. It was a lot warmer than both of us thought it would be and we both lost a shirt after the first mile. We ran as much as we could today, only hiking the steepest sections. We tried to run several of the big hills and it was a lot of fun and we had some good laughs. About a mile from the top there was a truck that had gone off the road into a gully in one of the steepest sections. We stopped and checked it out and found a Brooks and Dunn CD (Surprise!!), a pair of rustler jeans and a few old shirts. No treasure!

We made it to the top in 1:15 and we took a few peak jumping photos and then a couple showed up on the summit. They had come up on a ridge and had a bit of a bushwhack. We told them the easy way to get down and then we took off. I love running down this mountain. After the first steep rocky section I ran the next 3 miles fast at 6:33, 6:44 and 6:46. It was a lot of fun. I cruised all the way back to the car and then went back up to meet Matt to get in a little more mileage. I will definitely be back several times this year.

Nice run! That's some speed!

Sounds like you got some great vert in today. And those miles coming down were wicked fast... Great job! I'll have to come with you on some runs this summer while you prepare for Wasatch. I love me some mountain trails!

Was all the snow gone off the road all the way to the top? Looks like there is still some snow on the summit. We should do it Tuesday morning.

After running Suncrest today, which I know it totally different than these runs that you do, I don't get it! I just don't like running up long hills. Running down though, I get that :)

Fast final 3 miles! and nice vert. Good Saturday run.

Matt- Ha! You bet you were.

Bryce/Oreo- Thanks. It is a fun run with some good vert on a pretty decent track.

jsh- For sure! There are some really good trails down here. Thanks.

Jun- No snow at all. A few patches at the top, but the trail was completely dry. I'll do it anytime.

Carina- Hills are tough and not my fav, but they are excellent for training for trail and mountain runs. Oh and I love running down too :)

Sounds like fun! I've only run that one in the snow - it might be fun to try it out now that its not a foot deep! :) That is a great way to mix a lot of vert with some good speed work!
