12 ounce steak and potato 90 minutes before your run = BAD move.

I just wanted to get out and stretch my legs, so I took off for the Alpine Hwy, which is becoming my new track since I have been only trying to do flat miles. Right from the start I knew I should have run before dinner. Ugh! Eating a big steak is just not wise before a run, even if it is only 4 miles. It felt like I had a ferret lodged into my throat the entire time and it was tough just to keep the pace under 9.

My legs felt incredible. Not even a hint of soreness from my 15 mile run yesterday, so that is encouraging.

Yeah, I stay away from any red meat before a run. A few years ago up at Bear Lake I was dared to eat a triple burger with triple cheese. Like an IDIOT I did it, then ran 6 miles that night... Worst run ever!

Haha! Yeah, I'll never do that again.

Awesome! On the soreness, not so much on the dinner. I ran only a handful of times after eating - NEVER again. I can't run with any type of 'meal' in my stomach. A granola bar is about my limit.

Scott - so it looks like you are not the only one who has eaten and then run shortly after the meal. Been there also. So you are running flats - that amazes me. You seem to love vertical! Is the upcoming Ultra mostly flat - what is the distance and vertical for that race?

ugh. that's a horrible feeling. do you have any idea what tofurkey does to your system, even when you are not running? don't try it.

a ferret! ha!

PRE- I have been nursing a sore achilles for the last month and I need to stay off of the hills. It is killing me. My 100 mile race has 26K elevation gain, so I better start hitting some hills soon. Ha.

Allie- Haha. No I have no idea and I don't plan on it. Ferret or any other rodent would work :)
