Triathlons are my New sport and I LOVE IT

Recent last few years  as I havent done much since I was 16/17yrs, on and off injuries, going out with Friends started. Operations on injuries- compartment syndrome front of the shin had small operation to release the pressure on the fascia.

Oct 2007.  Did the great north run.  ( I was in the elite ladies race, against Kara Goucher and Paula Radcliffe, Im sure u Americans will recall that race).

I was just in on my previous times from the Bath Half Marathon. I ran it as best as I could off my training & circumstances...

Decided to do my 1st Marathon with London looming in the following April I was in the ladies Elite race again.  So the training was on.  I realise now I didnt give my body enough time to recover as it did break down in the last 5 weeks of my training. Injury bound, with calf and hamstring problems I raced!

London Marathon, April 08 (Injury calf issues) 1st marathon  3hrs.12mins .30 secs

Dublin Marathon  Oct 08  3hrs.01mins.13  undulating and 1 toilet stuck/stop (LOL)

Bath Half 2007    1.26.35 hrs

Wilmslow half marathon english champs    1.25.39

18th lady  (With piriformis injury ).

Liverpool 10k 2008 Oct 37.42mins midst marathon training

Wirral 5k 2009 17.41mins off the back off marathon week

Track 3000ms 10.45mins  hmmm I ran this to get points for my club so I just did tactical and ran on 1st lady shoulder and sprinted at the end !

As a youngster

County Champion for Xcountry and

High Jump

and 1500ms track.

pbs aged 13 yrs old

800ms 2mins 16secs

1500ms 4mins 48 secs

high jump 1metre 53  (cant do this now) and I never trained for it as a kid, just competed alot for points for my club, usually spend 2 hours highjumping, and skip off to do an 800 or 1500ms race then go back to high jump, Wish I took the running more seriously!

Run on more than several occasions for my County against Ireland county of Dublin.

Top 50 finnisher at 14yrs of age in english nationals Xcountry.

Did a run from home, not much time, 4.5 miles trails and some roads, I was bouncing about 7 min pace felt easy was even singing to some music at 7 min pace I am amazed :-O

Okay went to see my physio later today, the pain she put me through ouchie ouchie ouchie .... I got the all clear, although she was made up I played it safe yesterday and today, tomorrow is going to be another recovery run but maybe upto 9 miles, it doesnt hurt to run but my hammy is tight !

I am trying to work out which trainers to wear on the day of the marathon so I decided to get all of them out sort them out, chuck a couple of pairs, but at the time I thought oh why dont I just take a photo inc my fell racers and spikes but only had my track spikes cant find my xcountry spikes ha ha prob in the garage but cba going in the garage to look for them LOL I can be lazy sometimes but not often, I am still tired Dylan was off school today really wasnt well, last night and I think it was more tiredness than illness today, as he seemed to be okay later on in the afternoon.

Spiros front left 2nd and 3rd shoe in, yes that is a trainer on its own not sure why but I couldnt find the left shoe to go with it ha ha I think someone ate it LOL oooh look at those racing flats hardly used

That is a lot of shoes! Makes my two measly pair look very sad!

Nice run, glad you got the okay to go ahead!!

So, you are planning out shoes for the end of April already? WOW, I am impressed. I say, find the outfit first, then match the shoes. You will be the cutest runner out there!

From Samantha Dean-Howard on Tue, Mar 09, 2010 at 17:41:18 from 90.195.99.128

Kelli, yeah Im planning on grey with pink flashes LOL but cant decide whether to go for a pink top, grey shorts with yellow flashes then grey shoes with pink flashes, to mix it up a bit :) oooooh not that I will be worried of how I look at mile 20 eh!

Yeah I buy allot of trainers, but 3-4 pairs really are on their way out! 2-3 hardly used more walking than running then the racing flats bright blue well I dont know what I was thinking,

the spiros too heavy rubbish extreme rubbish LOL...

Yeah I have to decide on the shoes as I will need to break them in a little :-)

From Kelli on Tue, Mar 09, 2010 at 17:46:31 from 71.219.89.82

Oh, no, no, no!!! It is ALL about the outfit at mile 20! You must look good when you feel like croaking. Pink is my favorite race color, I am all for that!

From jun on Tue, Mar 09, 2010 at 18:06:25 from 66.239.250.209

You have almost as many pairs of shoes as my brother. That's right, my brother. And he doesn't own them because he needs 15 pairs of running shoes. He just likes the way they look. Yeah. Yikes.

From Lyman on Tue, Mar 09, 2010 at 21:53:06 from 80.23.230.78

Hey Samantha. Just flew over your house 12 hours ago. Looked for you from the airplane but didn't see you running :(

...and I thought my wife had a shoe problem.

From ChrisM on Wed, Mar 10, 2010 at 04:11:36 from 130.88.123.4

What a ridiculous amount of shoes you have, you cannot possible wear them all! Just how many feet do you have? LOL

Good that the physioi sorted the knee

Which are you wearing for marathon? I might go with the hyperspeeds, actually I saw they had Primark own brand water clogs/crocs for 4 pounds a pair so I could try them!

From Samantha Dean-Howard on Wed, Mar 10, 2010 at 05:20:36 from 78.32.130.9

Chris If I could find those xcountry spikes and that one other trainer I would actually match your shoe trainer fetish of 18 pairs ha ha ha LOL :-)

Yes my knee feels much better today wooohoooo

Lyman, I have a coat fetish too, but at least its trainers and not £800 Jimmy Choo's but you know what I would love to own a pair and have them on my fireplace ha ha Why didnt you see me running maybe it was due to me rolling not running LOL :-O

Jun yeah I like my trainers alot ha ha :O

Kelli, yeah I will post the top I am gonna buy, but hoping the jelly belly will be gone as its a half crop so its a maybe gonna wear it need a 6 pack not a nearly 4 pack LOL ;-)

From Samantha Dean-Howard on Wed, Mar 10, 2010 at 05:21:54 from 78.32.130.9

Chris I cant decide its either the safer option Vomero 4's or the nike lunar glide with the nasa technology wooo woooooo ;)

From Samantha Dean-Howard on Wed, Mar 10, 2010 at 05:24:01 from 78.32.130.9

ha maybe I am weird but I just though I gotta work out how much I spent on all those trainer's

Omg omg omg £1235 approx omg yes pounds not dollars dear me thats one pair of jimmy choos so its much better for my feet isnt it LOL

From ChrisM on Wed, Mar 10, 2010 at 05:29:44 from 130.88.123.4

I think you stand a better chance of running under 3 hours for the marathon with the trainers above than the jimmy choos!

From Samantha Dean-Howard on Wed, Mar 10, 2010 at 05:32:13 from 78.32.130.9

oh really Chris but I wanted to run in Jimmy Choos so not fair you for real on that one ha ha ha LOL ;-P

Nice shoes Sam! I think I have 6-7 pairs of running shoes. How do you like those Lunar trainers? (2nd row, 2nd shoe) Those are the shoes I run in mainly. It sucks that they are discontinued. I'm not too fond of the new ones. I got a pair of Lunar Racers also for the upcoming 5k/10k.

From RICKS RUNNING on Wed, Mar 10, 2010 at 12:14:13 from 79.78.142.230

Oh my god!

Your like that Philippino president Ha-ha :]

From Samantha Dean-Howard on Wed, Mar 10, 2010 at 12:43:54 from 90.195.99.128

Rick I am no Iron butterfly with 3000 pair of shoes but I am getting there ha ha

Vinh- I dont like the lunar nike free I think the toe box is too small, I have a big toe and a 2nd toe just as long as the big toe, so I have problems with the low front of the races, and get bad toenails then blisters so I prefer the new Lunar Glide the toe box much bigger ha ha....

:-)

From Bonnie on Wed, Mar 10, 2010 at 14:20:28 from 128.196.228.134

Funny picture! When Dean is running that is exactly what our hallway looks like (when no one is coming over) -- and our laundry room looks like a clothes rack at a running store ;-)

From allie on Wed, Mar 10, 2010 at 14:50:16 from 67.177.0.102

that is an excellent shoe collection there. i like the blue ones on the second row.

From Nan Kennard on Wed, Mar 10, 2010 at 15:25:06 from 174.51.250.151

Wow, you could shod a small country!

From Samantha Dean-Howard on Wed, Mar 10, 2010 at 15:53:12 from 90.195.99.128

Bonnie Yeah well I was just sorting through them and then decided to take a picture I have an understairs cupboard I put them all quite neatly in LOL

Yeah they are the Pre specials I bought them as they were so cheap ha ha

Nan I probably could your right :)

From Kelli on Wed, Mar 10, 2010 at 19:02:06 from 71.219.89.82

HEY, at least you have a 4 pack!

From Samantha Dean-Howard on Thu, Mar 11, 2010 at 06:11:48 from 78.32.130.9

From ChrisM on Thu, Mar 11, 2010 at 07:22:02 from 130.88.123.4

So you do not have any asics then? Nike seems to be the winning shoe brand!

From Samantha Dean-Howard on Thu, Mar 11, 2010 at 15:49:40 from 90.195.99.128

Yeah I am a bit of a Nike fan not one asics there, even the track spikes are nike

although there are two pairs of Walsh fell trainers proper runners shoes eh ! LOL
