Triathlons are my New sport and I LOVE IT

Recent last few years  as I havent done much since I was 16/17yrs, on and off injuries, going out with Friends started. Operations on injuries- compartment syndrome front of the shin had small operation to release the pressure on the fascia.

Oct 2007.  Did the great north run.  ( I was in the elite ladies race, against Kara Goucher and Paula Radcliffe, Im sure u Americans will recall that race).

I was just in on my previous times from the Bath Half Marathon. I ran it as best as I could off my training & circumstances...

Decided to do my 1st Marathon with London looming in the following April I was in the ladies Elite race again.  So the training was on.  I realise now I didnt give my body enough time to recover as it did break down in the last 5 weeks of my training. Injury bound, with calf and hamstring problems I raced!

London Marathon, April 08 (Injury calf issues) 1st marathon  3hrs.12mins .30 secs

Dublin Marathon  Oct 08  3hrs.01mins.13  undulating and 1 toilet stuck/stop (LOL)

Bath Half 2007    1.26.35 hrs

Wilmslow half marathon english champs    1.25.39

18th lady  (With piriformis injury ).

Liverpool 10k 2008 Oct 37.42mins midst marathon training

Wirral 5k 2009 17.41mins off the back off marathon week

Track 3000ms 10.45mins  hmmm I ran this to get points for my club so I just did tactical and ran on 1st lady shoulder and sprinted at the end !

As a youngster

County Champion for Xcountry and

pbs aged 13 yrs old

800ms 2mins 16secs

1500ms 4mins 48 secs

high jump 1metre 53  (cant do this now) and I never trained for it as a kid, just competed alot for points for my club, usually spend 2 hours highjumping, and skip off to do an 800 or 1500ms race then go back to high jump, Wish I took the running more seriously!

Okay what a week last week was... My son was ill, so I was off work and couldnt really run till my husband came home, it was an easy week but I didnt want it that easy, effectively I ran every other day short and easy, did allot of stretching icing and warm baths with the odd ice bath thrown in.

I was sore all week and got more sore as the week went on, I have had easy weeks and taper weeks before but last week my legs felt hammered rather than rested, my shins were sore, I have had compartment syndrome over 12 years ago I had an operation on both legs for too, never had a problem since! THIS WEEK THEY HURT.... I PaNiCkEd thought omg thats about 2 years out like last time, with an operation ouch !

anyway the physio had a really good look at them, no it was congestion from the easy week, and a good hour of her working on my legs I felt awful LOL the legs felt great me I felt groggy and ill..... I rang the phsyio she basically said all the rubbish in my muscles from them repairing over a week well basically I need to drink allot of water to flush my system out so I did.

Last week out the way, I was raring to go for my medium long run with tempo at the end, effectively near marathon pace.

So off I went, damp drizzly rain urghhhhh...... the idea was 10 easy miles, 5 tempo, then half a mile warm down.  Coach said out at 8 min pace, for a couple of miles pick it up to my long run comfort zone pace to 10 miles then stick to 7min pace maybe 6.50 but no faster.  here are the splits to follow in a while the garmin is playing up huh phhhhht!

Oh and chaffing is not a good luck LOL

Oh dear, there is a stile we have to go through, and some cyclist went just ahead of us at the last minute so we were going to have to wait, now this is when my legs cramp up, so I thought done it loads of times, climb or half jump over the fence LOL well I bashed my shin as my foot got a little stuck, which in turn has made the back of my knee sore, huh stupid idea and stupid cyclist no fair! Not sure why I caught my foot or how, as i have jumped over these in races and training runs quite fine LOL

UPDATE ;;;;; WHY DID NOBODY READ MY SPLITS RIGHT INC ME LOL

yeah its 6 miles tempo there at marathon pace, 6 miles with the last one faster OMG I am very happy now and I also know why my legs are shot but feeling much better :-))))

7.30 average overall for the 15.5 miles, but a good run tempo from mile 10 then I ended last tempo mile with a 6.40min mile.  :-)

What a day, It started greeeaaaaattttt  Valentines day I had a single rose but on my pillow :) then 24 red roses a lovely card..... took out for breakfast and a Neros coffee, then Paul helped me with my run he's such a gent:)   then I was had a bath run for me, with oils and stuff LOVELY:) and to top it off whisked off for a lovely Indian Meal in my fav Restaurant Zyka double :) :)  ☙ ❧ ❦

Yes Sam, why are easy weeks so hard on our bodies, I always feel crap after a few easy days, feelings of sluggishness and depression seem to creep in :[

Enjoy next weeks hard workouts and try not to have any more accidemts please :]

OMG!! Yeah- you did have a rough week - nothing like some pain thrown in to keep it real!! It'll turn around for you this week and hang in there!!! Sending good vibes your way!!!

I think consistency helps, I'd rather go for a moderate effort all the time than take easy weeks and hard week but sounds like you know what is going on so should be sorted soon.

Hopefully the knock from the fence as a results of the cyclist wont tbe too bad. I remember reading Paula's autobiog where the girl on the bike knocked her over and she put her shoulder/back out! Grrrr I always give cyclist/dogs/cars a very wide berth, they should respect us runners! LOL

Rick; great race for you yesterday :) thanks yeah just sounds exactly like I had, I hate the 1 day off I have to have a week, but these scheduled easy weeks are horrid, and that one was the worst, yes depression is one of the problems! :( but hey ho I ran well today so I am happy again and hubby did a really nice valentines day I feel very Special :-)

Marathon Dreamer thanks so much, it was tough, I expect the next easy week to be easier, I shall run every day and hopefully have a race at the end of it:)

Chris, I get you with not doing the easy week/hard weeks..... although they pay great like bonuses :) I hear you about Paula too, I have found the back of my knee is really sore now, and I feel very stiff, wow roll on tomorrow I will be walking slightly weird I expect :)
