Triathlons are my New sport and I LOVE IT

Recent last few years  as I havent done much since I was 16/17yrs, on and off injuries, going out with Friends started. Operations on injuries- compartment syndrome front of the shin had small operation to release the pressure on the fascia.

Oct 2007.  Did the great north run.  ( I was in the elite ladies race, against Kara Goucher and Paula Radcliffe, Im sure u Americans will recall that race).

I was just in on my previous times from the Bath Half Marathon. I ran it as best as I could off my training & circumstances...

Decided to do my 1st Marathon with London looming in the following April I was in the ladies Elite race again.  So the training was on.  I realise now I didnt give my body enough time to recover as it did break down in the last 5 weeks of my training. Injury bound, with calf and hamstring problems I raced!

London Marathon, April 08 (Injury calf issues) 1st marathon  3hrs.12mins .30 secs

Dublin Marathon  Oct 08  3hrs.01mins.13  undulating and 1 toilet stuck/stop (LOL)

Bath Half 2007    1.26.35 hrs

Wilmslow half marathon english champs    1.25.39

18th lady  (With piriformis injury ).

Liverpool 10k 2008 Oct 37.42mins midst marathon training

Wirral 5k 2009 17.41mins off the back off marathon week

Track 3000ms 10.45mins  hmmm I ran this to get points for my club so I just did tactical and ran on 1st lady shoulder and sprinted at the end !

As a youngster

County Champion for Xcountry and

High Jump

and 1500ms track.

pbs aged 13 yrs old

800ms 2mins 16secs

1500ms 4mins 48 secs

high jump 1metre 53  (cant do this now) and I never trained for it as a kid, just competed alot for points for my club, usually spend 2 hours highjumping, and skip off to do an 800 or 1500ms race then go back to high jump, Wish I took the running more seriously!

Run on more than several occasions for my County against Ireland county of Dublin.

Top 50 finnisher at 14yrs of age in english nationals Xcountry.

18 long run easy

I may say it was an easy run but hey I felt pretty dang good, 2hrs 16 mins, for 18 miles, I went out at my 16 miles pace, increased the pace towards 15 miles, then ran 8 min pace for the remaining 3 miles, I did NOT fuel, yeah yeah your all gonna moan but hey I didnt need to.

I had a 16" pizza last night, tomato mozzarela Chicken lots of chicken last night, and garlic bread hmmmm I love garlic bread, although Hubby hates it, lol so I talked him in to one piece ha ha.

Breakfast before the run was croissant tea cakes, and cereal mmmmmmm rub belly time LOL then a strong coffee and Chris no it wasnt Neros just my own strong instant I might add coffee.

I have to download the route and get the splits, I have been busy today so its gonna be later.

Missy sorry no pics, mostly 7.30 min miles so no time for pics, but its an easy week next week lots of time for some pictures he he and some easy (easy) swimming next week coach is wanting it to be so I am chomping on the bit by next weekend :-D

Okay average pace overall for 18 miles is 7.35 min pace

Mile 15 was half marathon pace well nearly! then last few miles as I say around 8 min pace recovery and warming down :-)   I am going to now look at all previous garmin runs over 18 miles, as I am so sure this is a pb for 18 miles in training.  WOOO HOOOO ;-D

Sammiii: Long and easy, but you are STILL on Fire!!!! Your mileage would give me shin splints! I sat on the tennisball today again...I wonder if I am doing it right..I kind of moving it around the bony bone in my butt cheek..there are some angles that I could sit on all day and other angles where it kills! I have been doing about 90 seconds each side...how long were you sitting on the ball? Oh this message sounds odd to anyone who doesn't know why we are sitting on balls...We will keep them wondering..lol. :D

I don't know how you can drink instant coffee?! Yuck! LOL

From missy on Sun, Feb 07, 2010 at 13:20:22 from 71.32.197.192

Sam: That's What I am always saying about myself.."chompin at the bit"..Except my version doesn't include your mileage..hehe..I put this video on Benny's page a few hours ago..maybe it's appropriate here because we are talking about horses now..lol..

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=__PU5CVSegg

Used to think it was the coolest running song ever..until I played it too much..lol.

Fuel wise...I only eat prior to an early morning workout to keep myself from getting faint and sick..otherwise If my run is at any other time of day I can pack up and go no prob..meals are frequent and small so I can run 2 minutes after eating..lol.

I like instant coffee mixed in a protein shake, tastes like a treat. :D

Chris: I looked at your blog for a sec to make sure You were indeed male..since I called you and Benny "boys"...You have Freaky Deaky super nice calves! :)

From ChrisM on Sun, Feb 07, 2010 at 14:00:33 from 86.151.220.223

Awesome run Sam! Your training is looking great! Um, Sam...Missy...what are yall doing with this ball?

From Samantha Dean-Howard on Mon, Feb 08, 2010 at 07:47:54 from 78.32.130.9

LOL Vinh- if you put a tennis ball in the bum cheek and gently put your weight on it, it can help release the inner muscles in the hip i.e piriformis which can cause hip tightness :)

From Lyman on Mon, Feb 08, 2010 at 20:04:06 from 170.135.241.45

Your so stinkin fast! I wish my easy pace was 7.35 for an 18 miler. You deserved the pizza and garlic bread.
