Triathlons are my New sport and I LOVE IT

Recent last few years  as I havent done much since I was 16/17yrs, on and off injuries, going out with Friends started. Operations on injuries- compartment syndrome front of the shin had small operation to release the pressure on the fascia.

Oct 2007.  Did the great north run.  ( I was in the elite ladies race, against Kara Goucher and Paula Radcliffe, Im sure u Americans will recall that race).

I was just in on my previous times from the Bath Half Marathon. I ran it as best as I could off my training & circumstances...

Decided to do my 1st Marathon with London looming in the following April I was in the ladies Elite race again.  So the training was on.  I realise now I didnt give my body enough time to recover as it did break down in the last 5 weeks of my training. Injury bound, with calf and hamstring problems I raced!

London Marathon, April 08 (Injury calf issues) 1st marathon  3hrs.12mins .30 secs

Dublin Marathon  Oct 08  3hrs.01mins.13  undulating and 1 toilet stuck/stop (LOL)

Bath Half 2007    1.26.35 hrs

Wilmslow half marathon english champs    1.25.39

18th lady  (With piriformis injury ).

Liverpool 10k 2008 Oct 37.42mins midst marathon training

Wirral 5k 2009 17.41mins off the back off marathon week

Track 3000ms 10.45mins  hmmm I ran this to get points for my club so I just did tactical and ran on 1st lady shoulder and sprinted at the end !

As a youngster

County Champion for Xcountry and

High Jump

and 1500ms track.

pbs aged 13 yrs old

800ms 2mins 16secs

1500ms 4mins 48 secs

high jump 1metre 53  (cant do this now) and I never trained for it as a kid, just competed alot for points for my club, usually spend 2 hours highjumping, and skip off to do an 800 or 1500ms race then go back to high jump, Wish I took the running more seriously!

Run on more than several occasions for my County against Ireland county of Dublin.

16 miles in the rain urghhhh! typical British weather hey :-}

 1hr 53 15 miles

okay so I was really tired after my higher mileage week for a long long time.....

I wasnt sure how this run would play, I got up late as I was so tired, and even bumped my car on Friday night due to over-tiredness and low sugar not a good combination for sure :(

Yeah I hadnt eaten Friday Night, and ordered a take out, but we had to pick it up, so I went out for it, very tired and low sugar with huge hunger pangs, it was really misty, and damp dark weather, our neighbours across the road keep parking the car opposite our drive which has been causing a few problems due to having a large vehicle and trying to back out of the drive causes quite few point turns.... anyway my rear window was fogged up too, Iknow its my fault so stupid but I backed straight into their car, and crushed it quite bad ooops, my car is quite large and heavy so it was only scratched and a lense broke but their car is quite badly damaged.... they have been okay about it and our insurance covers it so thats good but still more hassle of sorting it all out. :(

Okay I fuelled for my run today, I ate a good meal last night and some supper, then ate a decent breakfast this morning but in hope that the rain would go away I held off the run till later on in the in the afternoon 3pm I set off.

I was bad horrid rain !

I went of at a surprisingly good pace and didnt actually feel too bad :-)

9miles 1hr 8mins 51 secs

Okay at mile 15.5 I stopped and puked yellow bile oh what joy!   I had not taken on any gu gel or water so this run would have been on fat burning over the last 30 mins which is good and I kept the pace up, also I am thinking I am getting used to the conversion when it happens :)

Nice run in the crappy weather Sam! Although I could have lived w/o hearing the puking part lol. That sucks about your car, but it happens sometimes I guess. Hopefully it all gets sorted out quickly.

Vinh- lol at the puking its something to boast about on here ! honest, if you dont puke during hard training you arent doing hard training, and if you do puke well you can join the I TRAIN HARD GROUP the puke club :)

Rick which is impressive the run or the car LOL

From Benny's on Sun, Jan 24, 2010 at 19:42:13 from 24.174.249.108

This is neat, you are putting more mileage. You need to fuel up or else you're gonna break down.

From Samantha Dean-Howard on Mon, Jan 25, 2010 at 05:19:27 from 78.32.130.9

Yeah Bennys, I am fuelling better this week, I did fuel for the 16 miler, but didnt fuel during it, when I get to 17/18 milers I will have to take on gel's as anything over 2 hrs I think you have to fuel during.

I am going to fuel better in the week now, mainly for the session days, and after the runs I am going to take on a little extra so I am less likely to get injured..... I just get so fed up of eating I know its sounds weird, but to eat so much of healthy food is tiring LOL

From vinh on Mon, Jan 25, 2010 at 06:48:32 from 75.77.22.187

haha, I guess I will try to push myself that hard sometime. The only time I feel closest to puking is when I'm doing some type of speedwork. How about after my marathon, I will try to join the pukefest club =)

From Samantha Dean-Howard on Mon, Jan 25, 2010 at 07:21:43 from 78.32.130.9

Vinh- yeah mostly its speedwork intervals, but I got a weird stomach - I sometimes puke with gels too but I was pushing the pace near the end even though the rain and wind were holding me back so I think it was just that I pushed myself too hard, took me about 2hours to feel a bit normal again LOL =D
