I decided to join to hold myself accountable for my training and because I love learning from others running experiences.  I just started running a little over a year ago and have a lot to learn.  I work fulltime as a Manager of Telecommunications for Intermountain Healthcare and go to school online through Weber State University.  If you want to know more check out my blog: www.runningfortrevor.blogspot.com

Easy in Salem, 7:52 pace.  Testing out a new route for Jen's track team this morning which was a nice break from the normal hilly route.  Jen does not own a garmin and just guesses on route distances when she drives around town.  This is the 2nd time we've done this and shes been off by about a mile both times.  Poor track kids have no idea. haha I love it!

That's actually quite humerous! Reminds me of my Half Marathon that measured 13.7. Nothing worse than thinking your done and still having a ways to go!!

I too ran a half marathon that measured long (just shy of 14 miles) and when the runners informed the RD that the distance was off, he yelled at us and called us idiots!

That made me laugh. Good thing you keep her routes in check.

Those track kids think they're running a lot slower paces than they are :) 55 minutes for 6 miles?!? wow! you guys need to pick it up :) I'm assuming the course was long and NOT short. That might be a bummer come meet time.

Back in high school we would make a map of the surrounding area and mark the distance between intersections (.25, .5, etc.), then we'd figure out our routes that way. In college it was more about time than mileage, which was a switch for me, but now, I have to know every little detail, even if I'm slow. I remember the vistas that Google Earth first opened up when I could measure my runs with precision for the first time ever. I say just let those track kids live in their ignorance; there's a lifetime of obsessive number crunching once they strap on a Garmin. :-)
