4 mi shakeout run in Provo canyon with 5 x 20 second strides, 7:43 pace. Felt hard which is pretty typical for the day before a race and wearing hokas just makes running fast awkward anyway. Work, midterm review for school, and then off to St. George. I haven't really raced an aided course like Snow Canyon since 2011 so I'm excited/nervous to see what I can do. I've had a kind of crappy couple of weeks and felt super stressed, busy, exhausted, and just plain burnt out. I've got a lot on my plate and I'm ready for running to take a back seat in my life for a couple of months.
With that said once the gun goes off tomorrow morning I'm holding nothing back and I'll fight until the finish. I want to leave everything out there, no excuses! I started running as a way to cope with hard things in life and it continues to be that stabilizer and constant in my life. No matter what happens in life running is always constant, and no matter what happens at the race tomorrow I'm headed on vacation as soon as it's over. :):)
