Spanish Fork River trail loops with Lily, Jen, Annie, and my sis.  8:35 pace.  I stayed on the dirt as much as possible.  Fun, fun morning!

Feets Update:  I had a consultation with my orthopedic doctor yesterday and we are both thinking I am likely dealing with a Morton's Neuroma in both feet.  Since it is not getting better with taping, changing shoes, metetarsal pads, ect......surgery is definitely an option.  I am probably going to get an MRI, a second opinion, do lots of research, and try out some hoka's before I go through with the surgery.  But if surgery is the best option and will allow me to race without this holding me back I am absolutely not apposed to it.  The surgery is actually not too bad and would put me out for 8-10 weeks which really isn't much time at all in the grand scheme of things.

I want to find a Dr. that does this. http://www.ajronline.org/doi/full/10.2214/AJR.06.1463 I'll let you know if I find one!! It looks like a better option to me than surgery.

I was JUST going to post that Carina. I don't know a ton about it, but I've heard the alcohol injections (I think they do 4-6 of them) have been helpful for some people.

Have you tried running in Crocs? It sounds crazy but I wonder if they would give you the adequate forefoot room? Sasha didn't tell me to say that :-)

Definitely get a second opinion before surgery. If Andrea listened to her first surgeon, they would have operated on the wrong area! Not saying he is wrong, as you have been dealing with this for a long time, but always get a second opinion before there is any cutting.

I hope whatever route you go, it brings you relief from this.

Carina - Thanks for sharing, that is incredibly intriguing and would be much better than surgery. I'll start researching and see if I can find anyone in UT that does it. The cortisone shots did not seem to even touch my pain which is definitely concerning to me. Because according to everything I've read if it is indeed mortons neuroma they should have helped.

Jake - Funny you would mention the crocs. I had someone else tell me that last week and kind of laughed...but seriously I think it is worth a shot. Also appreciate your insights. I definitely want to be pretty sure that the surgery will indeed fix the problem before I go through with it.

I ran with Jasmine yest and she was diagnosed with a Mortons Neuroma as well just about a month or so ago. She has taken a month completely off of running and it feels better. Not saying that it will do the same but maybe take some time completely off your feet and cross train and then re-evaluate it. Have you taken any time off completely?

OMG, I have to chime in here. I had the same thing in one foot, I think from wearing office shoes/heels. The ligament becomes jammed up against the nerve when your toes are squished.

Mine was almost IMMEDIATELY helped by wearing toe stretchers. Don't laugh; they are rubber things that go between your toes and give that ligament/nerve room to not rub against each other. You can buy them at most major pharmacies or order online; they're pretty cheap. Took about two weeks of wearing them 10-60 mins per night. I know of several other people who had the same problem and solution. I dont know if your problem has gotten too bad for that, but it cant hurt!
