I decided to join to hold myself accountable for my training and because I love learning from others running experiences.  I just started running a little over a year ago and have a lot to learn.  I work fulltime as a Manager of Telecommunications for Intermountain Healthcare and go to school online through Weber State University.  If you want to know more check out my blog: www.runningfortrevor.blogspot.com

Skipped the track workout this morning because my calfs are still feeling tight.  I'd like to blame the soreness on the race Monday but I honestly think it is a residual effect of wearing the Kinvara's for the LR Sat.  My calfs were way tight during the race monday too!  After the marathon I am planning to figure out a way to ease my body into lighter weight shoes.

Anyway 5.4 miles easy.  The weather was perfect this morning.

Planks/pushups and then 15 min cooldown on the elliptical.

PM:  2 miles easy with the pups (yes plural I am dogsitting) at the track.  Yay for school being out and no one being at the track.  I wanted to go longer but settled for a nice 1 mile walk instead.  Blasted my music as loud as I could so I didn't have to listen to the pups yap at each other.

it might have just been a little too much, too soon, doing the LR in the lighter shoes. After UVM wear them for shorter, easier runs for a while, and that will help make the transition smooth.

i'm not even wearing mine for runs longer than an hour at this point. the little extra protection and heel lift is actually crucial for me right now.

very smart. don't mess around with tight calves!

I echo ALlie. Don't mess with tight calves. that's what landed me into my mess!

I am so jealous of this weather and you all that can run in it. Reading your blog today automatically started a waterfall of tears for me. I better get off the blog before I can't control myself anymore. :(

Lily I am so sorry! I totally know how it feels and if you want to come down to Payson and throw rocks at me I will let you.

Lets meet up for a walk & a talk?

Good smart workout Rachelle...learn from other's pasts and not your own :)

15 minute cool down on the elliptical? The elliptical?! Woa baby! Rachelle that doesn't happen very often! Good job on the run, and good luck on the calf! Also Rachelle... If you wanted to pace me for Hobbler half, Id love that. No pressure or anything.

Kira - what is the date of the race? I would really love to. I paced my friend Ashley last year and it was a lot of fun.

We should go run that canyon soon too!

lighter weight shoes adjustment?? I need to get a lighter body (like you) to maybe fly a little easier and less pounding on my joints in my 127 lb blob. sorry about the LR with the kinvaras. like I said my left foot never felt good in kinvaras. it may be that you tried the wrong minimalist shoe.
