Personal:

I decided to join to hold myself accountable for my training and because I love learning from others running experiences.  I just started running a little over a year ago and have a lot to learn.  I work fulltime as a Manager of Telecommunications for Intermountain Healthcare and go to school online through Weber State University.  If you want to know more check out my blog: www.runningfortrevor.blogspot.com

I hate daylight savings so bad I just had to take a day off of work today. :)  Actually I had a dentist appointment and just decided why not?

Slept in until 7 and then hit the gym for 50 minutes of weights.  Maybe after Boston I will turn into a weight lifter?  yeah maybe not but I do really like it when I have time to focus on it.

10.2 miles running.  3 x 2 miles at MP tempo.  I started conservatively and by the end I ran my last tempo mile in 6:58.  I was feeling good but my calves were sore.  Overall pace was 7:44.  I think I will run pretty flat for the next few days because hills seem to be bothering my calves.

Dentist appointment

Lunch with my Mom

New drivers license

Was planning to deep clean the house but it is already 3:15....this random day off has flown by.  Hopefully I will get out to practice running in the wind seems how the half marathon I am running Saturday is projecting 23mph winds.  Happy birthday to me.  800 foot elevation gain, rain/snow, and 23 mph winds.  At least I will look cute dressed in all green right?

Okay signing off from what just turned into my personal journal. :)

Way to take advantage of the day off - good workout!

I basically didn't run any hills all last week to get rid of the twinge in my calf. By the race on Sunday not only was my calf back to 100%, but I was powering up the hills really well. A little flat running will do you good.

is that what my problem is??? I will join you Rachelle--- FLAT running sounds Vacation-like. I keep thinking I need to keep the TM at 2% to be more like outside but maybe it is ailing me and counterproductive??

btw nice tempo-ing!!! : D.

Gotta love how days off fly by and working days drag on and on. It is not right.

You will and do great Saturday. It is your birthday, how can things go wrong???

Julie - I do the same thing on the treadmill. Always 2% for my easy days but my calves have felt kind of fatigued the past few days so I am just going to run flat for a bit and see if it helps.

Kelli - I am already having a midlife crisis about turning 26 and on top of that I chose to run the hilliest half I can find on the crappiest weather day of the month. Hopefully my "luck of the irish" can magically pick me up and fly me to the finish line. :)

Julie - hills are awesome but sometimes it can be too much of a good thing. If you stress-stress-stress the body but don't give it a chance to absorb the training, that is where break downs happen. Go flat for a few days - it worked great for me. 6 straight days w/ no hills - all the aches went away and I had great climbing legs during the race.... and felt awesome running back up the big hill today.

way to take advantage of a day off work ,now give yourself a break and go easier for a few and see if that helps your legs rebound. They will prolly come back even stronger :)
