I debated about where to do this LR but ultimetely decided just to run up the dam canyon again.  I didn't go up quite as far as last Saturday but just a little ways passed the park.  First 9 miles were easy but not too easy just my regular 8 minute pace and then I started the 8 mile tempo. 7:01, 7:03, 7:06, 7:09, 7:05, 7:08, 7:16, 7:01.  Hobbled my way up over the overpass and back to my house.  I was freaking toast!  I had time to add on and make this a 20 mile run but ultimetely decided my body would benefit more from a 10 minute icebath than an extra 1.5 miles.  Overal AP for then entire 18.5 was 7:36.  I'd by lying if I didn't say this was one of the toughest runs I've done in awhile.  I was struggling the last couple of tempo miles.  The wind was picking up and I was sweating so bad I ripped my freaking shirt off.  Wearing a long sleeve shirt was a dumb idea.

Glad to have this one out of the way and I even made it to work on time. :)

Oh also I wanted to mention that around mile 15 the bottoms of my feet started to feel like they were on FIRE!  Much like at Boston but it was not hot enough today for this to happen?  It hurt and did not go away until I slowed down for the cool down.  Anyone have any ideas what this might be from?

That's quite a pre-work workout. I like how you turned a long run into a BIG workout. You'll destroy UVM, Ra.

Wow you crushed that! :-) Actually, I think I have to say it in all caps - YOU CRUSHED THAT!!!

You're on a roll, Rachelle - UVM is going to be so much fun for you... you're at a whole new level of running now!

I am on board with the rest, WOWZA on 18 today girly! But I gotta be the voice of warning, burning under the feet isn't a good sign. I used to get that a lot in the end/beginning of 2009-2010. Just be careful you don't ensnare yourself into the start of a syndrome like PF. Yikes!

From Rachelle on Fri, May 18, 2012 at 12:43:44 from 199.190.170.21

Yes Julie I have officially reached an entirely new level of insanity! You can thank Jake for that. :)

I think the hardest part about it all is coming to work and SITTING all day. Holy ouchie Momma my legs feel like they were shredded through a meat grinder and I literally wish I had a cane or walking stick to help me hobble around. haha! Very glad I beat the storm!

From Rachelle on Fri, May 18, 2012 at 12:46:05 from 199.190.170.21

Thanks Lily!! It was definitely weird and something I have never experienced except like I said at Boston where it was 500 degrees!

I am going to make sure I pay close attention and take it easy if I start to notice it again. Yikes!!

Holy Miles! Nice work! It'll be fun to see how much you improve your UVM time from last year.

From JulieC on Fri, May 18, 2012 at 15:50:50 from 67.41.190.178

where exactly on your feet is it burning??

From Rachelle on Fri, May 18, 2012 at 16:04:28 from 199.190.170.29

Julie it is the balls of my feet. I run flat footed (or so I'm told) so that could possibly be the culprit? I don't know but what I do know is I should just forget about these things when they happen because when I don't erase them from my memory all I start doing is consulting Dr. Google and worrying!!

Great workout! I love following your blog, it motivates me to work on being faster. :)

About your feet, were you running a lot of downhills? (I'm not familiar with the area). I ran Nashville a few weeks ago which was super hilly. I had the same burning sensation. I heard you can get that from a lot of high impact from the downhills. Not sure if it's true, but hopefully that's all it is! :)
