Personal:

I decided to join to hold myself accountable for my training and because I love learning from others running experiences.  I just started running a little over a year ago and have a lot to learn.  I work fulltime as a Manager of Telecommunications for Intermountain Healthcare and go to school online through Weber State University.  If you want to know more check out my blog: www.runningfortrevor.blogspot.com

Gym workout:  30 minutes weights.  I even wandered around the gym aimlessly attempting to utilize the actual weight machines for the first time ever.  I am really wanting to strengthen my hips, quads, calves, and well just my legs in general if anyone has any suggestions?  I did my regular ITBS rehab exercises and then tried some abductor machine thingys.

8 miles on the treadmill.  oops!  Only planned 4 but I just kept going for some dumb reason.  I did feel better but it was still probably a foolish choice.  It took me 63 minutes so whatever pace that is.  The IT band and calf are definitely feeling better each day but the dumbest thing I can do at this point is increase mileage and run through pain.  I think if I handle this injury correctly I can be back up and running fast again soon enough.  But if I'm stupid it could set me back a lot further.  So don't be afraid to slip me a reminder to be smart every once in awhile. :)

Meeting at Willow Park in Lehi on the JRP at 5:45am tomorrow. 5-6 miles for me but you can go as long or as short as you want.  Come one come all!

I have a schedule with mileage limits for each day so I don't do anything stupid! Unfortunately those limits are at a measly 3-4 miles right now :)

I'm awfully oriented in the weights. I'll show you :)

I'm always a fan of walking lunges, with or without weights. I'm glad to hear your injuries are slowly getting better.

I do a lot of leg weights but I don't know the names! LOL That's how cool I am! Anyways... Be Smart! Don't start! lol Wait? Wrong subject! Anyways... I think the schedule Andrea suggested is a good idea! Thanks for your comments! I loved seeing your face this morning.

Grrr... I wish I could come. I could be there by six no problem, but I have to be home by 7 and with the 20-25 minute drive time is be cutting it too close:(

From Rachelle on Wed, Oct 17, 2012 at 14:39:19 from 159.212.71.69

Carina - You should try to come. I can't believe it's that far for you. I always think everything in UT is so much closer than it really is. We could definitely finish early if you needed to. I really don't care to run...I just want some fun company. :):)

As cold as it's going to be maybe we could just sit in the car and talk. haha

From Lily on Wed, Oct 17, 2012 at 14:43:56 from 67.199.178.95

If you can start a tad arlier, I can.come too. Carina come :)

From Rachelle on Wed, Oct 17, 2012 at 14:46:26 from 159.212.71.69

Would 5:45 suffice you early birdies?

From Lily on Wed, Oct 17, 2012 at 14:53:17 from 67.199.178.95

Yes. Now if I can just remember how to get to that park. Only been there once

From Rachelle on Wed, Oct 17, 2012 at 15:14:57 from 159.212.71.69

Woo hoo it's going to be a partay! I don't know exactly where it is either but here is the address: 9800 West 300 North Lehi, Utah 84043

K, I swear I'm not a flake. Everytime I plan something my plans get squashed :( my husband has an early morning meeting tomorrow! Grrrrrr count me out. We have gotta meet up soon. Seriously, we need a girls run.

From DaleG on Wed, Oct 17, 2012 at 18:49:11 from 152.216.3.5

Sure, Lily, Sure. Just teasin'. That always happens to me, too, and I end up bailing and thinking the other people think I just don't want to do it.

From Carina on Wed, Oct 17, 2012 at 20:01:55 from 204.15.86.83

Lily, I totally know what you mean. Coordinating running is so hard. I just don't think I can swing it with my kids in school and husband leaving for work so early. Grrrr... One of these days we are actually going to get to meet up for a run!

From JulieC on Wed, Oct 17, 2012 at 20:26:56 from 67.41.191.238

carina I thought you lived close to there??? It is on the JRP-- off of main st in lehi.

From Carina on Wed, Oct 17, 2012 at 21:06:18 from 204.15.86.83

I live in Traverse Mountain, main street Lehi is two freeway exits south of me. I just google mapped it and it says 20 minutes to willow park :/

From JulieC on Wed, Oct 17, 2012 at 21:12:57 from 67.41.191.238

I would like to argue with google map!!! :D. I am driving about 8 miles to get there too. I will have to map it for myself. We could meet somewhere more even that is for sure. I am flexible.

From Brooke on Wed, Oct 17, 2012 at 23:08:00 from 155.100.9.11

Ugh, everyone lives south! Even Teena lives too far for a weekday run! Wish I lived closer to everyone. If anyone is up this way in Davis County sometime, let me know!

Rachelle, way to be smart. It is soooo hard to keep things easy, especially when there's not a lot of pain!

" I am really wanting to strengthen my hips, quads, calves, and well just my legs in general if anyone has any suggestions?"

Start running trails with hills. It will be the best workout your legs will get. Maybe start doing a trail run once a week and get in some serious climbing. You will feel really worked and you will notice the increased strength in your legs. Dooooo it!

From Rachelle on Thu, Oct 18, 2012 at 11:30:03 from 199.190.170.21

Thanks Scott! Me and Rachel were actually just talking this morning about how I need to start adding more trail running. I think during this "off season" I will try to hit the trails 1-2 times a week.
