Personal:

I decided to join to hold myself accountable for my training and because I love learning from others running experiences.  I just started running a little over a year ago and have a lot to learn.  I work fulltime as a Manager of Telecommunications for Intermountain Healthcare and go to school online through Weber State University.  If you want to know more check out my blog: www.runningfortrevor.blogspot.com

Gym Workout:  35 min weights - planks, pushups, shoulders, and ITBS rehab & stretches.

40 sweat-tastic elliptical minutes.  Warmed up 10 min and then did 15 on/off intervals.  Kept the pace the same and just bumped up resistance for the "on" minutes.  6.3 miles in 40 min and I was completely dripping with sweat.

3 treadmill miles, 8 min pace.  I think I was just tired from the elliptical challenge but it felt hard and my IT was bothering me this morning.  In hindsight I should have probably just stayed on the elliptical and tried to beat James record of like 19 miles in one hour.

5K tomorrow.  I am 100% committed to my plan of not "racing" the rest of 2012 but depending on how I feel I'll probably shoot for a MP effort (which may end up being 7:30 pace).  More importantly since it is the month of Halloween I do know I will 100% be dressing up.  Costume ideas are welcome.

Great feature in the Run Utah magazine. You totally deserved that... awesome!!!

I made this wolf suit a few years ago...

GOOD LUCK COMING UP WITH SOMETHING BETTER THAN THAT!!! :-)

Oh yeah, the Run Utah article is awesome about you. So inspirational :)

From Rachelle on Fri, Oct 19, 2012 at 10:19:46 from 199.190.170.30

Thank you both so much for the kind words about the article. :)

And yes I am coming up tomorrow. Your picture will not show up for me Jake. :(

Are you running the 5k Andrea? Can we all just run for fun in costume....Jake can disguise himself so that Saucony never finds out.

From Carina on Fri, Oct 19, 2012 at 10:34:54 from 204.15.86.83

Rachelle, I agree, that article was fantastic and so well deserved!!

Those elliptical interval workouts can be really hard, I did them a lot when i was pregnant, nothing like intervals to get those sweat glands working!

I'm horrible at costume ideas, maybe you could go as an 80's aerobics instructor with the leggings, the french cut leotard, and leg warmer all in neon colors!!

You know what machine makes me sweat like no other? The stair master! That thing is a beast! You could always do that if you don't want to run, or the elliptical. Post pictures! I want to see what ever you dress up as.

Great article. Your running progress over the last few years has been incredible. Very inspiring for other runners.

I don't get it, how in the crap do you go that fast on the elliptical??? do you keep resistance at ONE??? I am not joking I am like a turtle on that thing!! and I want to see you MP 5k be 730 pace. bring it on!! ; D. maybe your costume will slow you down but I doubt it!! have fun!! :D. btw What article??

From Brooke on Fri, Oct 19, 2012 at 14:14:16 from 71.219.155.251

Nice work on the elliptical, I know it's easier to just bag it since you can't run as much anyway, so great job! :)

Yah, what article, I want to read it! I'll have to google it. ;)

From Rachelle on Fri, Oct 19, 2012 at 15:52:45 from 159.212.71.25

Thanks so much everyone!

Carina - I really like your idea. Simple and cute!

Kira - yes I will most definitely take a picture. :)

Scott - thanks so much. Your 100 milers are what are inspirational to me.

Julie - every elliptical is different but I can go really fast on the elliptical. I used to do it for hours back in college. Today I went between 9-14 on the resistance. Definitely not 0!

Brooke - You are so right but the elliptical really isn't too bad once you just get going. Here is the link to the article: http://www.utahrunning.com/magazine I am on page 18.
