AM: 5 mi around the loop with 6-7 x 30 second on/off strides.
PM: Zion Ragnar trails series. Holy smokes I am so naive! I went into this thinking it would be a nice & easy recovery weekend for me out in the mountains. I run on the dirt and the grass around the loop some mornings, I'm an experienced runner, the trails would be a piece of cake..... ha! hahaha! It was about a thousand.....scratch that a million times harder than I anticipated.
Leg #1 - 7pm, 7.5 miles. Hardest I've ever worked for a 8:12 average pace in my entire life. Single track trail with rolling hills throughout. It was beautiful but oh my goodness between the 6,500 feet elevation and trying to figure out my footing without breaking my neck it was definitely challenging to say the least. I was very grateful for the soloman trail running shoes I borrowed because I would have been falling left and right in the shoes I packed. |
