Personal:

I decided to join to hold myself accountable for my training and because I love learning from others running experiences.  I just started running a little over a year ago and have a lot to learn.  I work fulltime as a Manager of Telecommunications for Intermountain Healthcare and go to school online through Weber State University.  If you want to know more check out my blog: www.runningfortrevor.blogspot.com

7 miles in Salem with Jen & Josh, 7:54 pace.  It felt great to run outside but my IT band was bothering me a bit.  Most likely because of the cold it just never really warmed up.

Every parent of teenage girls (and boys) should watch the special on KUTV news last night about the Body Image Epidemic.  As someone who nearly died from Anorexia I feel that this is such a big problem that so many people are unaware of.

PM:  3.5 miles easy.  Just trying to lower the cholesterol. :)

Anorexia's scary stuff. Thanks for the link. My daughter's only 3, but it looks like the epidemic is only getting worse.

We really should chat sometime. I have been diagnosed with BDD. The difference is that I went bulemic instead of annorexic. I fight every day to make sure that my daughter knows that she is perfect. She is healthy and active and that is all that matters. A very well done story and something that is usually swept under the rug. Thanks for the link!

Glad you had a nice run this morning with friends!

Definitely scary stuff and I totally agree with you Rachel. Incidentally I have always had body image issues (especially in middle/high school) but in the opposite direction.

Very scary stuff that a lot of people (parents) are really just uneducated on I think. As hard as it is for me to share my story I can only hope it can help someone else. It took me being told by a doctor I was dying and then being admitted to the hospital with a feeding tube to realize just how serious it is. I can only hope that by being aware and knowing the signs & symptoms these things can be caught earlier before they get to the point I was at.

So sad. I think majority of Women go through this no matter what. I have tried hard to zip my lips around my own daughter especially. I'm glad you made it through Rachelle! You are beautiful!

RAD you too :)

BTW- I need to run with you guys!

From RAD on Thu, Nov 15, 2012 at 12:32:56 from 67.171.119.50

Hey anyone want to run Saturday?!? I'd be willing to go to a mid-point. I was thinking of just 10-12, my legs are still a little fatigued from my ultra ragnar last Saturday :)

From Rachelle on Thu, Nov 15, 2012 at 13:19:28 from 199.190.170.30

Rachel - yes please! We could do Provo canyon? I think it is kind of the middle, or wherever really. I am game as long as I get a nice slow long chatty run. :)

From RAD on Thu, Nov 15, 2012 at 13:23:54 from 67.171.119.50

I'm in! What time? I'd like to do earlier...but not EARLY! :) Maybe like 8ish? Oh, and I'll be plenty slow. Could hardly eek out my 8:54 AP today :) lets hope another day of recovery will help my legs not be full of lead.

From Rachelle on Thu, Nov 15, 2012 at 16:28:24 from 199.190.170.30

Sounds great to me Rachel. Maybe even 7:30 to get some of the Mom's that need to be home early?

Can you come Lily? What time would you need to start?

35% of 6-12 year olds? That makes me so sad. I don't even remember being self-aware enough at that age to think about body image, etc (which is really obvious in hindsight if you look at some of my haircuts and clothing picks from that span of time).

Its a huge problem, and its scary that it affects kids who are so young.
