Personal:

I decided to join to hold myself accountable for my training and because I love learning from others running experiences.  I just started running a little over a year ago and have a lot to learn.  I work fulltime as a Manager of Telecommunications for Intermountain Healthcare and go to school online through Weber State University.  If you want to know more check out my blog: www.runningfortrevor.blogspot.com

7 mile hilly route in Salem with Jen.  Planks/pushups at the gym.

My calves are still really sore from the weekend but running and talking felt good.  So nice out this morning and tons of runners/walkers out and about which is always fun to see. :)

I don't think I'm injured but my focus with running feels so off right now.  I kind of feel like I'm toeing a fine line with an injury and I am not sure why.  I don't know what is going on really.   My confidence is definitely waning and Provo City half this weekend is quite questionable at this point.  I just don't know if I'm up for racing a half at a subpar time.  I guess I could drop down to the 5k and see how many min behind Jen I can hang....  I've also gained 4lbs which I'm sure isn't helping my confidence or my speed.  And now I'm emotionally blogging.  Waah, waah, waah.

PM: 3.3 easy on the SF river trail.  Ran into Brandon at the end and ran with him for a bit.  I always love his positive energy!

I really think you should go run the half. As long as you're not injured I think you will perform a lot better than you think you will. Do it!

I just read about your Zion Ragnar. Wahoo for the trails! :)

Rachelle, You are AMAZING!!! If you don't feel like racing then don't do it. I always gain weight in the spring, I don't get it cause I feel like I eat lighter. I think maybe I just retain more water with the warmer weather? Sorry you're feeling off, give it some time, you're awesome.

Poop. Feel better. I am with Scott, race it if not injured. No matter what you do, it won't be subpar. If you want to subpar, come and pace me. :) I would like to be around 1:30-1:35.

Listening to your body and knowing when to push can be so tricky!! Of course I would recommend erring on the side of caution. However, sometimes a good race is just what you need to whip that confidence back in your mind. Maybe just make a game time decision and do what you think will be the most "fun". I hope you are feeling better ASAP!

Your Ragnar report was fun-ny to read. Looks like you learned a lot about trail running! Congrats on going for it.

I agree with the "fun" comment. YOU always run/race/train better when you're having fun.

Hang in there - you've been racing a lot and training hard. My advice is listen to your body. Think about what your MOST IMPORTANT goals are and only do those things racing and trainingwise that will help you reach those goals. Don't dig yourself into a hole that takes days or weeks to pull yourself out of... when I was being coached over the winter I was encouraged not to race as much as I usually do so I could devote my training 100% to my goal race...this worked out well for me, but everyone is different. I also know that I have complete confidence in you and your abilities and whatever you decide is 100% UP TO YOU :)

I agree to listen to your body. When feeling blah I have learned my solution is to just back off a bit and run long, slow, lazy miles until the fire returns.

Sometime it is good to push through a day or two of blah, but if it's extended then maybe your body and mind just need to relax, smell the roses, and run fat-burning(slow!) pace for a while. You know your body best!!
