I decided to join to hold myself accountable for my training and because I love learning from others running experiences.  I just started running a little over a year ago and have a lot to learn.  I work fulltime as a Manager of Telecommunications for Intermountain Healthcare and go to school online through Weber State University.  If you want to know more check out my blog: www.runningfortrevor.blogspot.com

5.5 miles of misery, 8:20 pace.  Felt so crappy I stopped and walked the last .25 to my house. haha  I've had a bit of a stomach bug and just had 0% energy today.  My leg was also bothering me more than I'd like to admit.  Waah, waah, waah!  I've got to get some calories in me today if I even want to think about covering 13 miles tomorrow.

I hate bad days because the good days are SO good! Maybe I'll see you tomorrow. I will look for who I think is you based on the few pictures I've seen. :) Good luck if you do it!

Feel better soon Rachelle. Get some good rest this weekend.

Just read your blog from the past week. Sounds like we have the same pain. Is it pain in the back of the knee that comes and goes. Kills at night or after running? The pain usually goes away after a good warm up? Just curious. Please respond... I know there is a problem with my leg and I just won't admit it.

Glidergirl - I will look for you. that honest to goodness sad truth is I really don't know if I'm physically capable of running 13 mi right now. Funny that just a month ago that was "short" to me.

Bec - I am so so sorry you are dealing with pain. :( It truly takes all of the fun out of running. Running is normally my "happy place" and lately I am literally counting down the min until I finish and constantly cutting runs short. It is so not like me and I know it is more than just losing my mojo. My pain started a lot like the way you describe but lately it actually seems to get worse the longer I run. The first mile today felt fine and then it reared it's ugly head. I also don't know exactly whats going on because the pain generates down to my right calf somedays (like today). It is just one of those mystery injuries it seems. I do think that lots of icing, foam rolling, and ITBS rehab things I have been doing in combination with low mileage are helping. I think I am dealing with IT band syndrome but again days like today when the pain is mostly in the calf make me question that. ugh!

What do you think yours is?

rachelle -- i'm not sure how you are feeling at the moment, but from what i'm reading above it sounds like running a half marathon tomorrow might do more harm than good. i really don't want to see you out with an injury.

maybe run the 5k? or as kevin said, just come for the party!

hotel allie & james still has vacancies if you are interested. :)

Sorry your not feeling so hot. Have fun tomorrow and be careful!

From Bec on Sat, Oct 13, 2012 at 13:06:21 from 70.115.203.100

I'm not dealing with pain like you are Rachelle. :( I hope that you took it easy today at the half.

Sounds like you have something you have to tame before it gets any worse. I am so sorry. Running injuries are the pits. Just think, you have the time to cross train and feel better. I am sure that you won't loose much fitness over some good cross training. I know it's not the same. God bless you!

seriously rachelle--- this is how my injury started and it grew from there and then running wasn't fun and the endorphins were lost and running was "forced" and continued until the sg marathon. you MUST be careful. Take two weeks off. Look what three months did for Amber Green. Hope you are listening and are more wise than myself. Addictions are hard to break.
