Personal:

I decided to join to hold myself accountable for my training and because I love learning from others running experiences.  I just started running a little over a year ago and have a lot to learn.  I work fulltime as a Manager of Telecommunications for Intermountain Healthcare and go to school online through Weber State University.  If you want to know more check out my blog: www.runningfortrevor.blogspot.com

30 minutes weights at home - planks, pushups, and worked shoulders with my little 10lb dumb bells.

Ran for 60 minutes, 7.1 mi.  Gorgeous morning!  I have a friend that is selling her $15 Provo City 5k voucher and I am debating about whether to take it or not.  As I was running my 5k TT route from a few weeks ago this morning the though of going 2 minutes faster per mile made me just a little nauseous.

PM:  2 miles easy after spending the afternoon up Payson Canyon.  What a gorgeous night. :)

5k's are puke-a-licious!

From Jake K on Mon, Apr 23, 2012 at 10:48:07 from 155.100.226.54

Yeah Lily, but at least if you start puking, its over quicker, unlike 26.2! :-)

go for it!!:D.

From JulieC on Mon, Apr 23, 2012 at 13:02:42 from 71.35.249.187

when is it?

From Rachelle on Mon, Apr 23, 2012 at 13:15:53 from 159.212.71.25

It is May 5th....I wish it were at least one week later so I had more time to train.....or a mentally prepare. Ha! As I was running in my "comfort zone" (8:30 pace) this morning the thought of running sub 6:30 miles became incredibly scary.

Unlike Jake who just busted out a 4:30 mile for fun. Jake do you realize that that time is like my 800 split? :)

From Jake K on Mon, Apr 23, 2012 at 13:19:42 from 155.100.226.54

Hey, that 4:30 was a smarter move (big picture) than racing the SLC 1/2 on Saturday. I just needed to get it out of my system.

I bet you would surprise yourself in a 5K. Aerobically you have never been stronger than you are right now. And your legs are probably about as rested as they'll ever be... before you start cranking the miles back up :-)

From Jake K on Mon, Apr 23, 2012 at 13:20:25 from 155.100.226.54

Our plan is to run the 5K, then run back up and jog in w/ whoever we know is running the 1/2 (allie and her sisters, billy and janae, etc)

From Rachelle on Mon, Apr 23, 2012 at 13:27:05 from 159.212.71.25

Sounds like a good plan. My good friend Julia is running the full and hoping for sub-4 so I will probably try to meet her at mile 18 or so. So basically whether I race or not I will be there.

Do you think I would honestly miss out on a running party in Provo? :)

From Jake K on Mon, Apr 23, 2012 at 13:29:10 from 155.100.226.54

We still haven't been to Yogurtland, so it really needs to happen afterwards!

From Lily on Mon, Apr 23, 2012 at 13:32:28 from 74.82.64.35

That would be me Jake! I'm a fatigued mess. I fear I may be the one who's gonna need the help :(

From Rachelle on Mon, Apr 23, 2012 at 13:37:33 from 159.212.71.25

Jake - YL must happen you guys are totally missing out.

Lily - Start taking an Iron supplement & eating more Ice cream and it should help with the fatigue.....but don't do the two together. :)

From Lily on Mon, Apr 23, 2012 at 13:39:55 from 74.82.64.34

I wish I could eat ice cream everyday. The life....

From Jake K on Mon, Apr 23, 2012 at 13:43:31 from 155.100.226.54

yeah ice cream blocks iron absorption... it stinks to try to figure out when to take iron on the weekends when i am eating ice cream all day - there's no time!

From Rachelle on Mon, Apr 23, 2012 at 14:06:31 from 159.212.71.77

bahahaha! You might just have to settle for 9 hours of sleep on weekends instead of 9.5.

From RAD on Mon, Apr 23, 2012 at 15:25:01 from 98.202.23.178

I have no advice on the 5K. I'd say do it, but I know how you feel with those marathon legs! You might as well give it a shot - if it is free, what do you have to lose? Certainly NOT a Provo running party! :)
