Personal:

I decided to join to hold myself accountable for my training and because I love learning from others running experiences.  I just started running a little over a year ago and have a lot to learn.  I work fulltime as a Manager of Telecommunications for Intermountain Healthcare and go to school online through Weber State University.  If you want to know more check out my blog: www.runningfortrevor.blogspot.com

8 incredibly boring miles on the treadmill in 63 min.  Started at 7.4 and bumped the speed up one notch every 10 min until I got all the way to 7.9!

I booked my flight to Phoenix yesterday for the IMS Arizona marathon on February 17th.  Now I just need to decide if I'm going to string together a marathon build up or make the wiser decision and drop down to the half......

Way to go Rachelle!! That is a lot of miles and lifting to do before the day begins. Hooray for you!

I like both of those courses... insanely long straightaways - don't have to worry about running tangents - just run in a straight line!

Rachelle, you are right treadmill miles are extremely boring! Today, Melissa and I tried the 12 minute on-off workout that you did. Wow, kicked my butt! I started at 9 mph and finished at 9.8 mph. Melissa finish well over 10 mph! Great workout! Loved it! Thanks!

Toby - Thanks! It's the only way I get through my 8 hours of sitting each day. :)

Jake - Straightaways are very good for me. I have gotten lost in my own neighborhood way more times than I'd like to admit.

Scott - That is so awesome! It really is such a hard workout but feels so good to accomplish. :) If I could wake up as early as you and Melissa do I would have joined you. Way to go! You need to join us on one of our Tuesday group runs.

Straightaways are the only way the garmin comes close to matching the real distance of the race, too :-)

Its pretty much almost "go time" for a February/March marathon. I think that since the training for the first couple weeks, whether you're aiming for a half or full, is essentially the same, you could probably give yourself a couple more weeks before making the final call.

Nice job!! Hope your eye is doing better. Sounds like a fun course down in AZ. Should be a perfect time of year down there!

hey I thought you already decided???

From Carina on Wed, Nov 28, 2012 at 17:23:56 from 204.15.86.83

Go rachelle, you'll rock either distance!

From Teena Marie on Wed, Nov 28, 2012 at 19:52:41 from 65.130.109.6

Nice workout!! I hope your eye is feeling better and then you are finally able to sleep without waking up every couple of hours.

Thanks so much everyone. I'd love to do the full but I'm pretty sure it's not in the cards. My metetarsalgia is really bad when I attempt to maintain pace and distance. So I'll probably go for the half and focus on uv marathon. :)

But I could always change my mind. Hehe! Above all I'm looking forward to escaping UT in the winter!!!

From RAD on Wed, Nov 28, 2012 at 21:38:35 from 67.171.119.50

I love halves! It would be a great gauge as to your winter fitness level to know what to shoot for at UVM. Sounds like a good idea to do the half to me. Less pressure and then you can enjoy your escape a little bit too!

I'd definitely like to see what you could run on a non-Lavender fields 1/2 Marathon course!
