Personal:

I decided to join to hold myself accountable for my training and because I love learning from others running experiences.  I just started running a little over a year ago and have a lot to learn.  I work fulltime as a Manager of Telecommunications for Intermountain Healthcare and go to school online through Weber State University.  If you want to know more check out my blog: www.runningfortrevor.blogspot.com

10 min weights working triceps.

20ish min elliptical talking to Kira & Lily

6 mile boredom buster on the tready.  15 x 1 min on/off intervals.  On at 6:00-5:49 pace and off at 8:27 pace.  This was really hard and made me feel really out of shape.  I want to try and run sub-20 at the turkey trot and clearly I have some work to do to get there.  Crazy how much speed I've lost since TOU!  With a nice 2 week training plan I'm hopeful I can pull off a sub-20 but we shall see.

Off to Vegas this afternoon to run Las Vegas Ragnar.  I want to be excited (and I am) but between work, school, and traveling out of town every weekend I am so burnt out.  I need to find a sleeping bag, and get packed, and get me some dang diet coke after work.  At least I get to meet Nick Symmonds! :)

It's crazy how quickly the body looses fitness isn't it! Nice work with your repeats =)

You might see my friend Sean Christensen. LOL. probably not. It's a big race filled with lots of people, but whoooo knows! Good talkin to ya girly :)

The speed comes back almost as quick as it goes away... although it generally feels awful and impossible as you try to start bringing it back. I've been toying around w/ the idea of doing some strides for the past week, but I don't even think I can crack my marathon pace for 100 meters right now :-)

Nice workout! Quite the pace on those. And have fun with the Ragnar! (Looks like we have the same goal for Turkey Day - Good luck!)

Jake, do you notice any change in your base fitness when you're not doing speedwork? Does your heart rate start slowly creeping its way up higher on your easy runs or is it just that your VO2max drops?

From Jake K on Thu, Nov 08, 2012 at 12:01:30 from 155.100.226.191

I don't know what happens to my HR while running, but my resting HR goes up when I'm not doing volume or intensity (like right now). So I'd guess my HR on an easy run, holding all other variables constant, is a bit higher right now than it was 2 months ago.

oh why did I sign up for this to watch how badly I suck against you ; D remember to NOT race me. I can't take "track" trauma. Why don't you run holding my hand that should do the trick?
