Short-Term Running Goals:

Okay, so for 2013 I am going to have FUN! Not that running isn't always fun, but I had a wonderful breakthrough year last year and I want to play this year :) AND get faster! So, my first goal I'm going to put out there is my yearly mileage goal.
It is 2,186 miles from my driveway to my sister (QP's) driveway! I want to spend this year on a virtual trek cross country running those miles. So, that is how far I will run in 2013...from my house to QPs. It will take all year and yes, this is measured on Hwys so it isn't really exactly how I COULD run it, but good enough. 43 miles/week...totally doable, and a fun goal to track how far I've traveled as I go along. Who knows...maybe I'll even run PAST her house :)

I will do more trail runs, Boston, Pacing duties, another Half IM and some other tris. I'm excited for this next year and look forward to having fun with all of you out on the roads, and trails! Maybe bag a few peaks this year too!!

Long-Term Running Goals:

Big Dreams: 5K in 20:2X; 10K in 39:XX; Half in 1:29:XX; Full in 3:15:XX; complete the Rim2Rim2Rim run and not die; Comrades; Iron(wo)Man.

Run for the rest of my life!

Personal:

4 children: twelve, eight, five and baby Fartlek - 2 1/2. Wonderful supportive husband that lets me drag him and the family all over for race after race!

Finished 13 marathons and LOVE running that distance! I'm definitely hooked to the marathon monster and hope to constantly improve my endurance, speed and stay injury free!

I've also found a love of trail running! I hope to keep improving on this front.

After being injured with a broken foot at the first of 2012 I found a tri group and started training with them and am now loving tris! The half IM was harder than I'd ever imagined...and am ready to do it again. I'll earn my bike butt and someday have enough time to train for a full IM.

Man oh man, I was tired this morning and thought more than once about bagging the run, I wasn't sore or hurting at all - just tired. But then I thought are you really that big of a wimp? You can do this - show me what you're made of! Well, it took some chatting and wandering to get to the TM, but then I started off...speed work here I come.

10 min warm-up @ 8:34

1 min on/1 min off - 20X (6:53/8:49)

I did one extra min of speed work then cooled down for the remaining 8 min; finished at 8mm to round out to 7.5 miles in the hour giving me an AP of 8:00 for the run.

This really wasn't easy for me, I wish it was! With 21 min at that pace I finished a 5K -just broken up, which is kind of neat for me - slow for most of the rest of you, but neat for me :) I've decided to run spectrum 10K for my 2nd SG runners series which is just 2 weeks away from Saturday. I want to try and hit 45 min, which will be no easy feat for me, but I think I can do it if I put my mind to it. Hopefully, today's workout reminded my legs how to run fast.

After I finished and walked a bit on the TM I went to the recumbent bike for 15 min to start my new book and get the HR down completely. Then I went and stretched out for the last 15-20 min of day care time. Feeling much better now, but man that was hard for me!

Hey we're twinners! Same work out! Except you did 5 more than me. Just have to beat me... :(

Oh, I'm sure your paces were enough faster than mine that it more than makes up for the extra ons/offs! Just don't tell Becca :)

Awesome workout. You're not slow. Your warm up would have done me in.

From RAD on Wed, Mar 02, 2011 at 15:33:56 from 67.172.229.125

Carolyn, about 3 min in to the warm-up I thought the same thing today! Glad I got it done, but it certainly wasn't my 'happiest' running hour!

Nice work today! You have got to stop calling yourself slow, you're not!!!

From calliej on Wed, Mar 02, 2011 at 17:38:46 from 97.126.131.54

Way to push yourself! All I have to say is I think you are super fast!!

From Smooth on Wed, Mar 02, 2011 at 18:24:20 from 67.2.86.179

I ditto Carina and Callie! :) You are FAST!!!

NICE WORK!!! I love this On/Off TM run!

From RAD on Wed, Mar 02, 2011 at 19:11:34 from 67.172.229.125

Carina, I guess I just feel so slow when I look at so many other people who run 7mm for a nice Sunday drive pace.

Callie, thanks, I'm not sure my body will thank me tomorrow, but I'm glad I mentally got through it.

Smooth, this really is a great TM run. Just enough down time to recover and think you can do it again, but not enough speed time to kill you - until you're 1/2 way through anyway :)

You are one dedicated runner and very fast too. I've never run a 21 min. 5K in my life.

From RAD on Thu, Mar 03, 2011 at 09:49:37 from 67.172.229.125

Nancy, thanks - I'm not sure I could pull a 21 on the road and without breaks, but this was fast for me!
