Short-Term Running Goals:

Okay, so for 2013 I am going to have FUN! Not that running isn't always fun, but I had a wonderful breakthrough year last year and I want to play this year :) AND get faster! So, my first goal I'm going to put out there is my yearly mileage goal.
It is 2,186 miles from my driveway to my sister (QP's) driveway! I want to spend this year on a virtual trek cross country running those miles. So, that is how far I will run in 2013...from my house to QPs. It will take all year and yes, this is measured on Hwys so it isn't really exactly how I COULD run it, but good enough. 43 miles/week...totally doable, and a fun goal to track how far I've traveled as I go along. Who knows...maybe I'll even run PAST her house :)

I will do more trail runs, Boston, Pacing duties, another Half IM and some other tris. I'm excited for this next year and look forward to having fun with all of you out on the roads, and trails! Maybe bag a few peaks this year too!!

Long-Term Running Goals:

Big Dreams: 5K in 20:2X; 10K in 39:XX; Half in 1:29:XX; Full in 3:15:XX; complete the Rim2Rim2Rim run and not die; Comrades; Iron(wo)Man.

Run for the rest of my life!

Personal:

4 children: twelve, eight, five and baby Fartlek - 2 1/2. Wonderful supportive husband that lets me drag him and the family all over for race after race!

Finished 13 marathons and LOVE running that distance! I'm definitely hooked to the marathon monster and hope to constantly improve my endurance, speed and stay injury free!

I've also found a love of trail running! I hope to keep improving on this front.

After being injured with a broken foot at the first of 2012 I found a tri group and started training with them and am now loving tris! The half IM was harder than I'd ever imagined...and am ready to do it again. I'll earn my bike butt and someday have enough time to train for a full IM.

I've been SO horribly tired for SO long that when I got news last night that I didn't have to work in the morning I was happily relieved! I could sleep in and still get a good six in.

Well, alarm went off and I decided I needed sleep more than a run. I even got up and started getting ready, but knowing I'm starting to get shin splints and I've been so exhausted, I figured my body could use sleep more than miles. I went back to bed until the kids woke me up around 8:45ish.

We got off to the gym and I swam this morning. It was a beautiful swimming morning and I swear the temp of the water at Lifetime is perfect for lap swimming. The lovely Becca joined me and lapped me (she's speedy on land and in water!) for 40 laps (she did more, I had to deal with daycare in/out as well while she swam), then I played with the kids for a bit after Becca left, then my daughter and I did 12 more laps (I don't think she did that many, but she did a few). Ended with 52 laps on a beautiful morning swim! (2600M - they said it was a 25M pool, not yards, but I don't know the difference)

Now I'm off for the day and feel rested enough to not drag through the afternoon/evening and hopefully I'll get a few things done then be able to get up in time for more early miles with the BBKs tomorrow.

Anyone have Saturday plans? I want to do 17 and was thinking about the JRP....any takers? I do have to go early so I can get home for a ward breakfast.

I am so PROUD of you sleeping! I am so HAPPY you got to swim with Bec and then with Lauren!!! Swimming is SO good for your body! At least that's what I heard since I dunno how to swim! :)

If I ended up deciding not to run DNews, I will be interested in running JRP! Which JRP? How early?

Thanks Smooth. I decided to put that knowledge into action! Almost 10 hours last night! :)

I don't care where. I was just thinking flat! Basically, not from my house :) I need to be home around 9...so 5 or 5:30 start? yikes...sounds SO early! I need to go back to bed now just thinking about it.

Nice job on the laps that is very impressive!

I am glad you got a little extra sleep too! 4 kiddos at home must be exhausting.

Everyone needs rest days....glad you got it in! I need to do 12 on Saturday - I would be happy to join you for the first bit! I would prefer to go early too...lots going on!

I think you were very smart to sleep in. That's a lot of laps in the pool. I bet you are as good at swimming as you are at running.

Rachelle, the only hard part about swimming is breathing :) I'm a land breather, so I have to swim slow. But, I feel like I could swim all day once I get going!

Toby, Sounds like we've got a good group running taking shape :) I'm glad you're up for early.

Nancy, I'm a poor swimmer, the only person that ever taught me how to swim was my big sister (the lifeguard) bye-wing. I didn't like her very much while she was teaching me - kept shoving my face in the water! But, alas, now I have no one to thank but her. I guess she knew what she was doing after all. I'm sure an uncooperative 6 year old little sister wasn't the easiest thing to deal with either :)

Allie, YIPEEE!!! Do you know how much I would love that? I'll even bring you some bananas :) I'd say donuts, but since you don't like the vegan/gluten free kind anyway I'll just stick with the bananas!

Way to go for a "swim day". Sounds like you got a good workout. Btw, 2600m = 2.6 kilo or 1.5 mile swim. Keep up the good work, just don't let me catch you swimming with your head out of the water :)

From RAD on Thu, Jul 21, 2011 at 16:16:15 from 76.27.16.189

bye-wing, I'll just swim behind you at the tri. That way you'll never have to see my horrible swimming form, or take credit for it :)

So fun today swimming with you. It's pretty boring to swim back and forth. Knowing that I get to talk to you sometimes when we take breaks makes me motivated. Thank you.
