Short-Term Running Goals:

Okay, so for 2013 I am going to have FUN! Not that running isn't always fun, but I had a wonderful breakthrough year last year and I want to play this year :) AND get faster! So, my first goal I'm going to put out there is my yearly mileage goal.
It is 2,186 miles from my driveway to my sister (QP's) driveway! I want to spend this year on a virtual trek cross country running those miles. So, that is how far I will run in 2013...from my house to QPs. It will take all year and yes, this is measured on Hwys so it isn't really exactly how I COULD run it, but good enough. 43 miles/week...totally doable, and a fun goal to track how far I've traveled as I go along. Who knows...maybe I'll even run PAST her house :)

I will do more trail runs, Boston, Pacing duties, another Half IM and some other tris. I'm excited for this next year and look forward to having fun with all of you out on the roads, and trails! Maybe bag a few peaks this year too!!

Long-Term Running Goals:

Big Dreams: 5K in 20:2X; 10K in 39:XX; Half in 1:29:XX; Full in 3:15:XX; complete the Rim2Rim2Rim run and not die; Comrades; Iron(wo)Man.

Run for the rest of my life!

Personal:

4 children: twelve, eight, five and baby Fartlek - 2 1/2. Wonderful supportive husband that lets me drag him and the family all over for race after race!

Finished 13 marathons and LOVE running that distance! I'm definitely hooked to the marathon monster and hope to constantly improve my endurance, speed and stay injury free!

I've also found a love of trail running! I hope to keep improving on this front.

After being injured with a broken foot at the first of 2012 I found a tri group and started training with them and am now loving tris! The half IM was harder than I'd ever imagined...and am ready to do it again. I'll earn my bike butt and someday have enough time to train for a full IM.

Back in the saddle.

The run felt better today than running has in quite some time, but not up to what 'normal' feels like for me. Still feeling sluggish and slow, but getting better. My hip flexor is getting better all the time, but I still have to get it warmed up and the first bit of a run is still more limping than I'd like. Still SO much better than even a week ago. I can hardly even feel it now while I just walk around.

Hit the TM at the gym. Plan was to do 5 miles, but when I got to 5 and still had over 6 minutes left to hit my 'time' I decided to go for another one and just push through having to reset the speed a couple times during the 'cool down' (it decreases the speed 50% each minute, so it's annoying, but whatever).

First 3 miles @ 8:57, nice warm-up/recovery from Saturday. Quads are sore from the downhill! Mile 4 @ 8:49, 5 @ 8:34 then the last mile was under an 8:00. I don't know how fast, but I started at an 8 and went progressive to a 6:58 for the last tenth. The last mile I went for a decline. Since I'd done 5 miles of uphill, I figured I deserved some down :) So, the pace was faster, but effort about the same - until the last 1/4 mile sprinting. AP: 8:43

I then did FIT class. I really like doing that class, especially now that they let us do the Bosu work with our shoes off. I feel like it really helps my stability/strength in my feet, ankles and hips that I lack.

Ran home and then got my oldest daughter off to the orthodontist. She got braces today. Crazy, I'm not old enough to have a child that can get braces! I'm only 22!!!

Then I am only 23!!! Braces are fun, stock up on Advil for her!

Great job on your workouts. Those BOSU balls are great, you are right.

Devine Miss M - how are you long tempo runs going for STG, marathon pace runs? Or, are you using races for these runs? Progressive runs are nice for confidence builders and help you with a good kick at the end of races. If you want that big break thru marathon PR, get one of your running buddies to help you with those marathon pace training runs, no doubt, without Gwen, you can get ready for a shot at sub 8s for STG.

Kelli, I knew you were only a year or two older than I was. So far she has only complained of pain once. Even this morning she says they don't hurt. We shall see how tonight goes...

Brent, Honestly I'm still trying to get my legs recovered. They just still feel like lead weights that don't want to move. A 9mm feels like 5K pace! Once the legs are recovered I will start working in some pace runs, but for now I'm just trudging along trying to get it done. Sub 8's? Maybe on a few splits :)
