Short-Term Running Goals:

Okay, so for 2013 I am going to have FUN! Not that running isn't always fun, but I had a wonderful breakthrough year last year and I want to play this year :) AND get faster! So, my first goal I'm going to put out there is my yearly mileage goal.
It is 2,186 miles from my driveway to my sister (QP's) driveway! I want to spend this year on a virtual trek cross country running those miles. So, that is how far I will run in 2013...from my house to QPs. It will take all year and yes, this is measured on Hwys so it isn't really exactly how I COULD run it, but good enough. 43 miles/week...totally doable, and a fun goal to track how far I've traveled as I go along. Who knows...maybe I'll even run PAST her house :)

I will do more trail runs, Boston, Pacing duties, another Half IM and some other tris. I'm excited for this next year and look forward to having fun with all of you out on the roads, and trails! Maybe bag a few peaks this year too!!

Long-Term Running Goals:

Big Dreams: 5K in 20:2X; 10K in 39:XX; Half in 1:29:XX; Full in 3:15:XX; complete the Rim2Rim2Rim run and not die; Comrades; Iron(wo)Man.

Run for the rest of my life!

Personal:

4 children: twelve, eight, five and baby Fartlek - 2 1/2. Wonderful supportive husband that lets me drag him and the family all over for race after race!

Finished 13 marathons and LOVE running that distance! I'm definitely hooked to the marathon monster and hope to constantly improve my endurance, speed and stay injury free!

I've also found a love of trail running! I hope to keep improving on this front.

After being injured with a broken foot at the first of 2012 I found a tri group and started training with them and am now loving tris! The half IM was harder than I'd ever imagined...and am ready to do it again. I'll earn my bike butt and someday have enough time to train for a full IM.

didn't sleep much...too much going on in my brain after a rough afternoon/evening at home.

Got up and ran early with my neighbor again. I love that she gets me out! Did our normal 5K loop and she didn't stop once this time, progress! AP: 9:38; 9:31, 9:15, 10:05- best uphill mile so far.

Then ventured off on my tried and true 5 mile route, but did it opposite of normal. It was a good run and I felt good the whole time too! AP: 8:55 splits: 8:40, 8:57, 9:29, 9:38 (the 2 uphill miles!), 7:56. I pushed that last mile hoping I could score a sub 8, I was pleased when I saw the results. Only 1/2 of the mile is downhill - the other is a flat/uphill home, so it was nice to be rewarded for my strong finishing effort!

The sunrise was absolutely gorgeous this morning! When I stopped (I was running N at this point and couldn't see the best of it) I turned around and walked the .1 or so back home backwards so I could take it all in! I feel bad for everyone who wasn't able to enjoy it :)

Now I'm off to the gym for either total body class or Kelli's workout, we'll see which one I make time wise :)

***excellent workout with Kelli, she is better than a personal trainer! Upper body 3X and lower body 3X then I did 3 sets of ab's from Runner's World (standing, pull the weight up - ankle height to above head across the body; pull the weight across the body; pull the weight from the top down across the body). I might regret this workout tomorrow, but today it feels good :)***

Very nice, Rachel! Sounds like your slump may be over.

Good work, and you didn't even mention that it was like 1 degree outside!!

Nice run!! I don't know how you can run outside!! It is so cold!!

This morning felt like the coldest morning ever! I'm so impressed that you had such a great run out there.

Merri, I was honestly quite disappointed with the post race stuff they had at SGM, very little healthy food, but the yuck food was all over!

Dale, oh one could only hope!

Carina, It's strange, but doing the 3 warm up miles with my neighbor really helps me forget I'm cold :) Especially since she comes to my house I get to walk out and in so I don't spend a lot of time shivering afterward in the cold or car!

Scott, I'm glad you got to enjoy it! I need to come do wire, but weekdays when my hubby works present a huge problem. What about MLK day next Monday? He has the day off? Or even Lake Mtn down here closer to us?

Callie, it IS cold, but layers help a TON! However, what I still don't understand is why the fattiest parts of my body always get and stay the coldest!?! Shouldn't they be 'insulated' against the cold?

Catherine, it was colder than I thought when I went outside, but it quickly warmed up - we did the uphill portion first today!

Great run Rachel. I'm sure Kelli gives you a great workout, she's and animal. You don't have any fat parts on your body.

Sounds like a really great run Rachel. Too bad I am at work before any sunrise occurs. Sounds peaceful.

From RAD on Tue, Jan 11, 2011 at 18:36:22 from 67.172.229.125

Nancy, I love doing workouts with Kelli for that very reason!

Becca, ugghhh, that is too early!
