Short-Term Running Goals:

Okay, so for 2013 I am going to have FUN! Not that running isn't always fun, but I had a wonderful breakthrough year last year and I want to play this year :) AND get faster! So, my first goal I'm going to put out there is my yearly mileage goal.
It is 2,186 miles from my driveway to my sister (QP's) driveway! I want to spend this year on a virtual trek cross country running those miles. So, that is how far I will run in 2013...from my house to QPs. It will take all year and yes, this is measured on Hwys so it isn't really exactly how I COULD run it, but good enough. 43 miles/week...totally doable, and a fun goal to track how far I've traveled as I go along. Who knows...maybe I'll even run PAST her house :)

I will do more trail runs, Boston, Pacing duties, another Half IM and some other tris. I'm excited for this next year and look forward to having fun with all of you out on the roads, and trails! Maybe bag a few peaks this year too!!

Long-Term Running Goals:

Big Dreams: 5K in 20:2X; 10K in 39:XX; Half in 1:29:XX; Full in 3:15:XX; complete the Rim2Rim2Rim run and not die; Comrades; Iron(wo)Man.

Run for the rest of my life!

Personal:

4 children: twelve, eight, five and baby Fartlek - 2 1/2. Wonderful supportive husband that lets me drag him and the family all over for race after race!

Finished 13 marathons and LOVE running that distance! I'm definitely hooked to the marathon monster and hope to constantly improve my endurance, speed and stay injury free!

I've also found a love of trail running! I hope to keep improving on this front.

After being injured with a broken foot at the first of 2012 I found a tri group and started training with them and am now loving tris! The half IM was harder than I'd ever imagined...and am ready to do it again. I'll earn my bike butt and someday have enough time to train for a full IM.

You take the good, you take the bad, you take them both and there you have
The Facts of Life, the Facts of Life.

Yup, it was that kind of run today. Good (near excellent for me) yesterday and today, well...not so much.  I just honestly couldn't run out the soreness in my butt and hammies like I could yesterday, and I think my legs were pretty hammered as well. The upside is that my pace with Sandra was really good this morning.

3.75 w/Sandra @ AP: 9:37

4.5 (2.5 with Lucy then a couple on my own after she died, but she got to 2 miles before slowing down, so hopefully I'll be able to get her up to 4 and out with Sandra and I soon) @ AP: 9:05 splits: 9:28, 8:57, 9:05, 8:45, 9:10 (last .5) - happy to see that my pace for the last 1.5 which are the hardest uphill parts were a decent pace!

Now I'm off to yoga, oh how I cherish my yoga days! I'll probably waste a little time on the recumbent bike reading afterward :)

The regular yoga teacher was gone and I LOVED the sub! First teacher I've just hands down liked at the gym. Afterward I did a little extra hip and hammy work to hopefully get rid of this soreness, then did 20 min on the bike while I read. Wonderful morning!

Oh, and I was going to tell y'all a story about this morning that made my day. The HS kids are usually out and waiting at bus stops while I run - or they are walking there. A couple kids this morning were making a ruckus (the world IS your oyster when you are 16) but as we flipped around the round a bout they looked at us and said "well, hello girls!" It put a smile on my face that a KID called me a girl and not lady, makes me feel young again :)

Awesome speed work yesterday!!!!

So, is the Yoga teacher as good as Wendy? Are you liking the gym at all?

From steve ash on Thu, Mar 10, 2011 at 11:10:31 from 64.134.228.233

Always a good sign when you enjoy the harder stuff. Nice..

never time wasted when you're burning calories & having fun

Are you Tootie, Jo, Blair, or Natalie?

From RAD on Thu, Mar 10, 2011 at 14:42:40 from 67.172.229.125

Kelli, thanks! It's nice to feel good after some speed. No, the teachers aren't as good as Wendy. The lady today was good, but didn't do as much stretching like Wendy does - still missing her terribly! I do like the gym, it's just different and takes some getting used to in the adjustment.

Steve, I don't usually enjoy it, so yes. It was nice!

QP, I was just hoping to have as good of a run as I did yesterday, but I guess that was asking too much of myself. As far as the facts of life go - I'm all encompassing, it just depends on which day you catch me :)

I LOVED Facts of Life!!! It was on at 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday nights. Unfortunately, that was my bedtime ... total weaksauce of a bedtime I might had. SO ... I would do extra chores to stay up on Wednesday. My parents knew exactly what they were doing. I'm pretty sure I did about 2 hours of chores to stay up an extra 30 minutes!!!

Oh, and see you later, GIRL!!! :)

From Nancy on Thu, Mar 10, 2011 at 21:07:35 from 76.27.19.206

It sounds like you got a good run in and them some nice Yoga. It would make me happy if someone called me a girl too.

From Lily on Thu, Mar 10, 2011 at 21:32:35 from 67.199.178.210

So where are you going to the gym now since the other one closed?

From LuzyLew on Thu, Mar 10, 2011 at 21:54:49 from 71.195.221.218

Those boys have good taste...

From RAD on Thu, Mar 10, 2011 at 22:01:46 from 67.172.229.125

Teena, I guess that is why I now love the miracle of tivo. I can watch ALL my shows as I sit and fold clothes and mop the floors - and no more waiting for commercials! Our kids are SO spoiled - they don't even have to get up to change the channel :)

Nancy, it was a great day. I think my 'girl' days are numbered so I'll enjoy them while I can.

Lily, I go to Lifetime, but it is 10 miles and about 20 minutes away. It is a FAB gym, but expensive and far :(

Luz, either that or their mothers raised them well :)

I still remember the first time I was called "lady", it wasn't my favorite for sure!

Nice running!!

From Carolyn in Colorado on Fri, Mar 11, 2011 at 12:22:36 from 198.241.174.15

I think you're young.

From RAD on Fri, Mar 11, 2011 at 14:39:20 from 67.172.229.125

Carina, I never thought much about it until the last couple years.

Allie, your negative spectator experience honestly had me worried. 34?!? Maybe if they are 12 and have no idea how old adults look! I think you look closer to 18 than 34!

Carolyn, thanks :) funny, but I always think 90% of adults I interact with are my same age.

From Lily on Fri, Mar 11, 2011 at 14:55:17 from 67.199.178.210

Ditto RAD, Allie you do look closer to 18 than anywhere near 34! :)
