Well, I don't know if it was the running in the cold Saturday morning, phase two of the illness I had on Thursday and Friday, or a brand new illness, but after feeling a little better on Saturday and Sunday I started sneezing again on Sunday night. I stayed home from work again on Monday and Tuesday. Monday I was sneezing all day long. My right eye was watering so badly I could hardly see out of it at times. I tried working from home some in the morning, but then just slept most of the afternoon and into the evening. I felt somewhat better on Tuesday, but I was still sneezing and didn't want to spread the joy at work just before Christmas. I went into work on Wednesday. I discovered we had Thursday off as well as Friday, so I only went into work one day this week. I could get used to that. Since I was off today, I went out for a run at about 8:30am. I didn't want to just run around the block again so I ran the neighborhood 5K route...more or less. I ended up running 3.3 miles, average pace 9:29/mi. It's not speedy, but 0:30/mi faster than my previous run.
I felt a little numbness in the metatarsal region of my right foot near the end, but not much. It was just enough to remind me to ease back into running and not try too much too soon. |
