13.1 miles @ 9:04/mi (1:58:40)

I headed out a little after 7am to run 12-13 miles on the Murdock Canal Trail north. I was surprised to see an aid station set up for a race. It turned out to be the Timp Marathon. I timed it just right. Just after I started on the trail I saw the lead runner coming south as I headed north. I cheered most of the runners as I passed them in the opposite direction. Shortly after I turned around near the Cedar Hills tunnel and headed south I saw the leader heading back north. It was the same leader, but he was walking. The 2nd place runner wasn't far behind and was running well. I suspect he caught him. I cheered most of the same runners as I headed back in the opposite direction. I felt a little of the race day magic even though I wasn't running the race.

I ran 13.1 miles (half marathon distance). I hoped to break 2 hours and was pleased to finish just under 1:59. I've been stepping up my training the past couple of weeks, and my calves have noticed, but I'm feeling pretty good.

Later in the morning we did a couple of short hikes, the Canyon Nature Trail in AF Canyon and Cascade Springs. They were short enough that my 2 year old granddaughter could walk most of it without being carried. She really enjoyed it, and so did we. We then went to Dairy Keen in Heber for lunch and shakes...far more calories I think than what we burned. It was a good time. We came home and most of us napped I think. I know I did.
