Late posting..... This was my second Boston Marathon, the first I ran in 2014. My daughter Callie went to cheer me on back then. After that experience she always said "I want us to run the Boston Marathon together". Since then we have both continued to run, race and talk about this bucket list goal. So... finally all the stars aligned and we did it! Injuries , life, COVD, and a couple of babies being born were some of the setbacks and delays. We did qualify for 2020 and we're entered only to have the race canceled. Finally, now or dream came together, we ran the entire race together, enjoyed the moment and finished with a decent time! The race, as everyone knows, is an AWESOME experience to say the least. We had excellent weather but maybe a little chilly for our spectators. Several of our family members came to watch. It was really nice to have them there. Physically I was not in the best shape to race. I have had a busy roping season and lots of travel that held me back. Overall, in okay with our finish time keeping in mind we were mainly running it for the experience. With that I was still almost 10 minutes below my qualifying time for next year although I'm pretty sure this will be my last Boston Marathon run. Congratulations to all those who ran Boston with me. As we all know it's a major accomplishment that most are never able to achieve. |
