Endure and persist; this pain will turn to your good. - Ovid

Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we rejoice in the hope of the glory of God. Not only so, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us. - Romans 5:1-5

Did the Bacon Strip 10-miler today, my 3rd year doing this race. Sadly, the founder of the race, Jane Welzel, 5-time Olympic Trials qualifier, passed away from pancreatic cancer just a few weeks ago. The race was about 3 times biggers than normal this year, in honor of Jane, I would think.

Mike and I did "double-bacon" this morning, which was two loops. We got to the race early, and did the loop once...10 miles in 6:30/mile pace. Nice warmup. .We then did the race, Mike pulled away from me at Mile 8, and I kind of ran out of gas. I ended up at 54:37, and Mike was 54:10. No course record for either of us, but not bad considering it was our second loop, and the last 10 miles of a 20-miler. Bacon Strip is absurdly hilly and on dirt, by the way.
