Park City Marathon. 2:43:32. 1st place overall. This was the 2nd race of the Grand Slam circuit. I recovered very well from Ogden and wanted to run Park City at "up-tempo" pace, and not make myself hurt too bad, if such a thing is possible in a marathon. I also knew the race was winnable. I ran good even pace for the entire race, and the second half was about a minute slower than the first, which I was happy with. Competition came from Fritz Vandekamp, a good runner, but he had been living at sea level the last several months. Fritz and I ran together for the first 10 miles, but I had dropped him by the half. After ascending the hill into downtown Park City, I tried to pick it up the gradual downhill/flat along the rail trail. The last 2 miles there was some struggle to maintain pace, but all in all, I made my goals for the race and felt pretty good afterward.
