Maybe you could start your taper Friday afternoon after a 20+ miler Friday morning. :o)

I think you have a lot more hay in the barn than you think you do. Just be careful not to eat too much of it before Saturday.

Sounds like you're in great shape for the marathon. As long as your legs are feeling good, just enjoy the beautiful fall weather.

I believe tappering isn't about slowing down but doing less miles. So if you usually do a 5 mile tempo run on a Tuesday then you should do a 2.5 mile tempo run at the same speed you'd do the 5 mile tempo run. Everything is less not slower or faster. Then the day before the race you don't have to run.

Anyway, I plan on having fun no matter what my time is. I feel a little like the grasshopper that didn't store anything for the winter. Then along comes Larry with a free hand-out.

I hope you name a child after me when you go sub 3

From Terry on Wed, Oct 01, 2008 at 15:28:03

If I go sub 3 my next child will be named Larry!!

I'm trying to imagine Terry standing in a circle at the front of a fast and testimony meeting blessing his beautiful new baby girl and naming her Larry.

It's easier for me to picture Terry stopping and standing for a couple of minutes 3 feet from the finish line waiting for the clock to click to 3:00. More likely, he and his wife have already decided not to have anymore children. Or they'll make that decision if Terry goes sub-3. :o)

Girls can be called Larry, Jo Nelson's Mom is named Larry, not sure of spelling.
