Not totally sure of the distance, I was at work and took a break for a run without a watch. From downtown to Evergreen Park, across the bridge to Lions Park, loop there and back.

FASTEST MAN IN MANETTE

Not the flashiest title in the world, but I'll take it. I won the neighborhood race this morning that is the start of our little street festival. Start line is one mile from my doorstep, free entry, and a donut shop 40 yards from the finish line. Perfecto. Maybe 50 people showed, only two other guys really running competatively, and I was three minutes ahead of them. Kind of ran my usual loop on Shore Drive and then to Whitey Domstad Park, then across the bridge, Washington (on the new sidewalks, whoo-hoo!) to Burwell, then up Pacific to Fourth, then back on Washington and across the bridge. I was giving high fives to everyone as I pass them on their way up the bridge.

Felt fine, kind of took it easy on the long incline of the bridge heading over, and didn't exactly sprint in at the finish. It probably could have been under 18, but I liked doing the high-five thing too. I won a little piece of wood from a maple someone cut down in their yard, with a little plaque on it. The prize was supposed to be a huge pumpkin, but the organizer's friend decided not to donate it. A little disappoining not to win a pumpkin, but I can't complain about the easiest 5k logistically on earth for me. I bought a donut, walked through the street fest and talked to some people I know, then jogged home.
