Personal:

Started running in November 2007 to get fit. Now I'm back almost to square one after back surgery. I did it once and I'll do it again.

"In truth, runners don't race other runners. They race against themselves: to conquer their wills, to transcend their weaknesses, to beat back their nightmares. And while a runner can't actually beat himself, he can beat his time. Even years into running, he can get better."  Running for His Life by Michael Hall.

My running has been really spotty the past couple of weeks.  Last week's hang up was travelling to Oregon and helping my parents load a moving truck and transport all their stuff to a storage unit in Meridian.  I think this week will be relatively free of distractions (knock on wood).

Easy, slow run to get back into the groove.  8:55/mi overall pace.

Late evening slow, easy run that turned into a walk.  Great weather these days and the run started out ok until a was hit by a horrible stomach ache in mile 4.  Ended up walking most of the last couple of miles doubling over in pain until I reached the house.  First 3M @ 8:34/mi pace.

Late evening slow, easy run.  Having bouts of dizziness and nausea this evening but I decided to go for a run anyway.  No real problems until I stopped when I started to get dizzy again. I hope its not my old friend vertigo returning for a visit.  8:45/mi overall pace.  3M @ 8:25/mi pace.

Took a few hours of comp time, left work early and got in a run on the greenbelt before heading to the mountains for some camping w/ the Boy Scouts.  Looks like good weather is here to stay.  It'll probably go from a cold, wet spring to temps in the 90's in no time.

Returned home in mid-afternoon from camping near Smiths Ferry, did some yard work and finally got some time to go for a run around 10pm.  Surprisingly, I had a very good progressive run w/ each mile being approximately 10 secs faster than the last.  I topped out at 8:03/mi for mile 7 and finished w/ 1.5M of cooldown.
