Personal:

Started running in November 2007 to get fit. Now I'm back almost to square one after back surgery. I did it once and I'll do it again.

"In truth, runners don't race other runners. They race against themselves: to conquer their wills, to transcend their weaknesses, to beat back their nightmares. And while a runner can't actually beat himself, he can beat his time. Even years into running, he can get better."  Running for His Life by Michael Hall.

630AM: Took me 1.5M to actually wake up but I felt great after that.  Some good pickups at HM race pace (7:30/mi) or better to stretch the legs.  Averaged 7:55/mi after the warmup.  No workout tonight.  I'm running the Fit for Life Half tomorrow morning.  Hoping to hit 1:38 but I'd settle for anything sub 1:40.

I hear you about taking some miles to actually wake up and get going in the morning.

Good luck and have fun at the Fit for Life HM...Go get that 1:38! I ran it 4 years ago and enjoyed it, running on the Boise greenbelt is great!

Thanks Jeff. A 1:38 would be 7 mins faster than last year but I think its doable. Might as well go for it and see what happens. It's all just exercise anyway.

Good luck tomorrow. I wish I could be running it too, but I'm stuck working in Utah this week.

Thanks. It's only been a couple of weeks since your marathon anyway. Have fun in UT and try not to get lost again. ;)
