Personal:

Started running in November 2007 to get fit. Now I'm back almost to square one after back surgery. I did it once and I'll do it again.

"In truth, runners don't race other runners. They race against themselves: to conquer their wills, to transcend their weaknesses, to beat back their nightmares. And while a runner can't actually beat himself, he can beat his time. Even years into running, he can get better."  Running for His Life by Michael Hall.

640AM: 4.7 easy miles this morning; I felt surprisingly good for it being only 8 hours after my 10 miler last night; still having problems w/ the Garmin; don't know what I'll do in the short term; It would be a bigger deal if I weren't so focused on building base and consciously avoiding the speed workouts;  I'll probably just continue to use it until it completely fails and fill in the gaps w/ google maps; this means I'll have to stick to actual roads and not canal trails or greenbelt paths where google cannot measure the distance.

930PM: 5.43 not so easy miles in 90 degree heat; brutally hot today; more or less slogged my way through the entire run.

Cumulus 10 Miles: 10.13

Sounds like it is time for a new Garmin? Which model do you have and how old is it?

I have the 305. Had it exactly one year but I bought it used (refurbished).

I tried running at night last week. It's brutal. Way to slog your way through it.

Thanks. I hate carrying water but I've had to do it even on my shorter runs. Ridiculously hot.
