Personal:

Started running in November 2007 to get fit. Now I'm back almost to square one after back surgery. I did it once and I'll do it again.

"In truth, runners don't race other runners. They race against themselves: to conquer their wills, to transcend their weaknesses, to beat back their nightmares. And while a runner can't actually beat himself, he can beat his time. Even years into running, he can get better."  Running for His Life by Michael Hall.

1145PM: 6M @ luncht on the greenbelt, FF Memorial past Willow Lane Complex and back; temp in the 80's and no breeze; I was all set to declare that my troubles w/ my Garmin watch shutting off were over (downloaded the Garmin Web Updater) after last night's run w/o incident; however, today I developed a new problem- failure to locate a satellite; I'm so frustrated w/ this thing; you would hope that such an expensive item would not have such problems (these are not the only problems I've experienced); my wife gave me the go ahead to replace it but I'm hesitating, partly b/c I don't want to just chuck the thing (past warranty) or buy another Garmin; on a lighter note, I passed a bicyclist toward the end of my run which made me feel good.

930PM: 4.56M easy; incredible side ache during most of the run; I was finally able to get my Garmin to locate satellites after numerous on/off and reboots; now I get home and the pace data is all wrong; it reads that my 3rd mile was .87 and that it took me nearly an hour to run it; my entire run didn't take me an hour; I don't know what's up but I'm probably gonna call Garmin tomorrow if it doesn't correct itself.

Good run! You still may want to contact Garmin, their customer service is good and I have heard of folks getting replacement units even after warranty period. Not finding a satellite sounds more like a problem that could be addressed by turning it off then back on to reset it.

I shut it off and on a couple of times. Good to hear that their CS is excellent. Sounds like there are tons of cu's w/ similar problems.
