Personal:

Married with 2 lively boys. I love running and I love getting faster. Just trying to figure out how to balance life between being a mother, wife, part time nurse, and runner. :)

When I was in 6th grade I filled out a Getting to Know You sheet. Under nicknames I wrote, "My brothers call me Boo Legs, I think its because I run fast." (It really came from the movie, Strange Brew) And its been my family nickname ever since.

I think I've got ADD when it comes to speedwork. I can't handle the same thing for too long. I was all over the place. I did a descending ladder that looked like this.

1 mile warm up

1 mile fast, recover, 1/2 mile fast, recover, 1/4 mile fast, recover and repeat descending ladder.

1 mile cool down

The fast miles looked like this for round number one 6:35, 3:06, 1:23  and round number two (no surprise here, my legs finally got used to going fast, you can tell I felt better the second time around) 6:31, 3:03, 1:21.

Great workout. Considering you were increasing the speed with each rep, to do the second half of the session faster takes some doing. The splits aren't too different. Well done.

Awesome workout Natalie! I think that ladder workouts like this are actually great so maybe your workout ADD is a good thing. :)

I am quite CERTAIN I can't run a 70 second 1/4 mile. I think I ran ONE 70 second 1/4 mile in track at high school and I was so very sick afterward. I was NOT good at track btw, I am being VERY serious. What I am saying here is HOW IN THE HECK????? that is awesome!!! did you run track in high school?

From NatalieK on Wed, Aug 29, 2012 at 14:27:42 from 24.2.101.184

Julie, you're too nice. No, I wish I had run track, I thought about it.... I did mostly soccer. We did a lot of sprints there? But remember how I only did 1/4 mile in 70 seconds ONCE, no repeats, I had a recovery right after so I knew I could go close to all out.

Wow I must not have been paying very close attention yesterday or maybe it was the 1:10 that thew me off but holy crud 70 seconds is simply ridiculously fast. I feel like such a wimp for just aiming for 90 seconds on my 400's now....

You really should be a sprinter Natalie!

Oh my word, you guys, I'm ridiculous, no wonder you all thought I was so fast. I just realized how wrong that number was... Ha, in my defense, I did that workout on the treadmill and was converting the MPH to min/miles and boy was I way off! Please see the above correction and don't think I'm THAT crazy fast, cuz it was a total lie! Sorry for the mistake. 70 seconds...I wish!

From JulieC on Wed, Aug 29, 2012 at 15:50:09 from 71.35.249.251

still fast :D. But sorry THAT 70 seconds STANDS WAY out in my mind--- I was 16 years old and HOLY FLIP I wanted to die. APRIL track season on a frigid day in New Hampshire and I hated life after that!! Everything hurt to get that number!!
