| Easy 9 around Standley Lake at 7:26 pace. Felt good. Went to Ballys and lifted for an hour. The kids seem to like the child care better there...what a relief! | Add Comment |

| Easy 9 around Countryside. Took the kids to the dinosoar playplace at the mall this morning and then went to pilates reformer at noon. Put the girls down for naps after lunch and took a nap while Abe played computer games. Feeling much refreshed...gotta do some kind of tempo work tomorrow. Aaron is riding all the way to the top of Mt. Evans (the 14,000 ft. mountain that is the backdrop of Denver in all the postcards) on Saturday morning, so I'm going to do my long run on Friday and just run on the treadmill at the gym on Saturday. | Comments(1) |

| 2.5 mile warm up to the track 5 X Mile at 5:57, 5:57, 5:59, 5:56, 6:00 with 1 lap jog in between each one 2.5 mile cooldown Left the house around 5:30 a.m. and got back around 7:00 a.m. so Aaron could go on a ride with Eric. What a BEAUTIFUL morning!! My favorite running weather; 57 degrees and partly cloudy. This was not an easy workout; my legs were pretty tired for the last couple of laps of each repeat but I pushed through it. I feel pretty great now and I'm going to take a nap here in few minutes while my kids are napping. | Comments(4) |

| Nice easy recovery run 7:34 ave. I added some new songs to my ipod the other day and I almost laughed out loud at this one that I found on my husband's playlist and decided to put on mine. Code Monkey | Add Comment |

| Long run this morning. Stashed water bottles last night so I didn't have to wear the fuel belt. Carried Clif Shots and sour slices. Ate about 250 calories over 18 miles, which is a little bit more than I have been doing on my long runs, but I think it was beneficial. I never felt totally depleted and was able to hold pace all the way to the end. I planned on averaging 7:30 pace, but it just felt more natural and very comfortable to run 7:20s. Around mile 6 this master's Iron Man Triathlete guy creeped up on me and we started chatting and running together. I had to laugh because I think I have fallen victim to other competitive men for the last three long runs in a row now. They seem to want to run a half stride ahead of me and the pace keeps getting faster. Last week was the same scenario, this guy I was running with could NOT seem to run slower than 7:10 pace even though he didn't have any reason to run faster and I told him at least 5 times that I didn't need to be going that fast. Finally when he took a pee break, I spotted a porta-potty and ran off without telling him so we could "accidentally" get separated and I could run slower the last few miles. This morning seemed to be the same. The guy kept talking about his running accomplishments and kept running faster each mile...a half stride ahead of me of course. We ended up doing about 6 miles together between 6:30-7:10 pace...so that brought my overall average down quite a bit. Two weeks ago it was a different guy in the Runner's Edge group who seemed to want to see me suffer and threw in a 5 mile tempo at 6:30 pace. I think he just wanted to get me beyond conversational pace so I would shut up or something. Then afterwards he expressed that he was pretty impressed and a little threatened because he didn't want to be "chicked" by a mother of 3. Haha. Anyway, this morning after the masters guy was finished I still had 5 miles to go so I slowed back to a comfortable pace around 7:20s. Overall I felt GREAT and I am WAY excited to race a fast half-marathon next weekend. Total for today: 18 miles @ 7:07 average. | Comments(5) |

| Went to the gym and ran 6 miles on the treadmill. Just locked in at 8 min. mile pace and took it nice and easy. I wa going to lift weights too but I only did a few lifts before the child care worker, Adel paged me because Ali was exhausted and ready for a nap. Going to pick up my race packet for the half marathon today so I don't have to drive up there the night before or early the morning of. After that I'm driving to Idaho Springs to pick up Aaron and Eric after they finish their climb to the top of Mt. Evans and cruise back down to Idaho Spgs. | Add Comment |
