Interviewed for a stateside job today with the Forestry service.  The interview was at 2:15 am my time and was over by 3.  I'll find out if they want to go forward in 2-4 weeks.

I couldn't sleep afterward, so I finished packing for my trip to Basrah and went for a run.

I was hoping to see the sunrise, but there was too much haze on the horizon.  I really like running at that temperature, but I'm probably not going to get up early again.  Unless I get a second interview.

Weekly assessment compared to last week

Pullups:  up 3 (3 less than PR)

Situps: up 8 (7 away from my goal, 9 away from my PR)

Pushups: up 15 (quit with 9 seconds left, 20 less than PR)

I know now why you are so strong, its from hauling around all those 100s.

Nice miles! Especially considering the time you were running them! Sounds like the job interview went well. I hope you get it!

Yeah, good luck on that job. Not to be a pessimist but I hear it's hard to land a job for the Forestry Service. At least you have your uncle that can teach you about the consistency of squirrel droppings.

Great job on keeping up the mileage (and the speed work) this week, you rock. I will keep my fingers and toes crossed on the job interview!

We would welcome you back!!!

I hate 3AM. it is one of the only quite times in my house, though :)

Great run. Good luck with the job.

Thanks for the well wishing folks!

Right now the Forestry service has money to burn. The stimulus package granted them $1.5 billion and they need folks like me to spend it. It's only a temporary position, but if I get it I'll stay out of trouble for 13 months or so. It's my step father in law that breaks apart poop for fun, Burt. I'm just glad he does it with a stick.

Where is the forestry job?

From kelsey on Sat, Apr 25, 2009 at 15:03:21 from 128.186.154.139

2-4 weeks? Ugh, I hate waiting for stuff like that.

I can teach you about bunny and turtle droppings if need be. I see plenty.

I've recently started doing pull ups. Every time I pass the ROTC building on campus I put my stuff down and do a couple on their pull-up bar. Literally, a couple, because I can only do 2 as of right now. Then I am sore for three days. Some days I can't do it because Jason made me promise I wouldn't on days I am wearing a skirt. People stare at the random girl doing pull ups on campus enough as it is.

From Burt on Sat, Apr 25, 2009 at 15:32:34 from 98.167.151.26

Do they offer you a dollar if you do a pull up? If they do, don't accept.

From Teena on Sun, Apr 26, 2009 at 00:36:13 from 67.177.20.13

Hey Mike.

I'm sure you nailed the interview!!

Nice miles.

From montelepsy on Sun, Apr 26, 2009 at 11:56:34 from 217.68.199.130

Jefferey, it's in Vallejo, CA. Close to where my parents live and close to where I graduated high school.

Impressive with the pullups, Kelsey. Jason is a party pooper!

Burt, times are hard and dollars are scarce.

Thanks Teena, I think I did too. They would be foolish to hire anyone else. Foolish!
