Personal:

I used to run for BYU, but only after trying out three times and finally walking on, so I was never a star. However, it was wonderful to run with great people and under Coach Shane. When you run with fast people, you can't help to improve! I graduated BYU in 1998, and didn't run a race until 2002, after having my second child. My hiatus and other crazy life commitments have made my competitive running suffer, but the last couple of years I have tried to get back into it the best I can. I have been married since 1996, to Paul Lowry, who is a runner himself. I have three boys (my three rascals), ages 12, 10, and 8.

After a great 2008 season, I was injured and eventually diagnosed and cross-diagnosed with Ankylosing Spondylitis, a type of arthritis disease, which precludes running for all but the most stubborn.  So I am on medications, trying to stay healthy, and seeing my PT often.  And running!  Now beating the streets in Hong Kong.

I decided to take the day off, since I wasn't planning on running Monday and Tuesday (the 14th and 15th). I have an appointment with Dr. Brady, a sports chiropractor on Tuesday.  I am hoping 5 days off, then getting out of tax season will help me to feel fresh and will calm my achilles down.  I think not running Saturday was a good decision because my legs feel good.  I can't wait to get out back on the road though.  Josse's race makes me hungry.  I am still hoping I can run the Ogden marathon on May 19th.

Hey Michelle! You're almost done with the busy season! YAY!!!! I hope you can still do Ogden as well. I mean I know you CAN regardless, just make sure you don't push too hard the first week back . Just ease into it nice. And you'll be golden!

Congratulations on your son's baptism! My oldest will be getting baptized this fall. Can't believe he's getting that old.

Uh-oh about your achilles. James would probably be the one to ask about that. Sounds like you are getting right on top of it early. Hopefully it will be a non-issue shortly. Good luck, and HEY, you made it through one more tax season, and you're still in fabulous shape. Congratulations!
