Personal:

I used to run for BYU, but only after trying out three times and finally walking on, so I was never a star. However, it was wonderful to run with great people and under Coach Shane. When you run with fast people, you can't help to improve! I graduated BYU in 1998, and didn't run a race until 2002, after having my second child. My hiatus and other crazy life commitments have made my competitive running suffer, but the last couple of years I have tried to get back into it the best I can. I have been married since 1996, to Paul Lowry, who is a runner himself. I have three boys (my three rascals), ages 12, 10, and 8.

After a great 2008 season, I was injured and eventually diagnosed and cross-diagnosed with Ankylosing Spondylitis, a type of arthritis disease, which precludes running for all but the most stubborn.  So I am on medications, trying to stay healthy, and seeing my PT often.  And running!  Now beating the streets in Hong Kong.

Ran from Osborns to where Steve K's gang starts, ran 5 miles with Steve K and Carl (Darin was a no show).  I thought it was a speed day for them, but they're doing speed tomorrow.  So I ran "easy" with them which was around 7:00 after they warmed up, sometimes even creeping into my marathon pace.  I stopped for a potty break and was then on my own, and I did 8 longer strides (35-55 sec instead of my more normal 25).

My legs felt good.  Afterward felt some minimal soreness in knees.  Still soreness in my right ham.

Hey Michelle- before you post today- look at the mileage board! WE ARE ON THE SAME PAGE!!! If i had biked today, I would be on the page before you and on the same page as Sasha! Holy crap. I know that probably depresses you, but I feel like Queen of the WORLD!! :D I'd go hop on the bike, but I am sick! Hey- where are you? Are you alright? I think I like taper weeks. I can feel like a super hero too :)

Wow, that's awesome. Now get out there and bike so you can catch back up to me (I just posted).

CRAP!!! I am not feeling to hot! I've been in bed ALL day in hopes of being healed ASAP! I have to NOT get worse!

Alright. You know best. I always workout with mild sicknesses. I think it helps. Really crappy days should be the only days you don't go out.

From marion on Wed, Sep 17, 2008 at 18:59:59

I ran 4 miles this morning :) I just thought that I should pull back on the "death by activity" for today ;D One reason I knew I was getting sick was the 37 minute bike ride that took 55 minutes yesterday. My splits this morning was the icing on the sick cake. I am still going to run in the mroning :)

What kind of "easy" was that for them? Darin races only a bit faster than you. Steve is not that far ahead.

From MichelleL on Wed, Sep 17, 2008 at 21:15:14

Darin wasn't there. Steve was 4 minutes ahead, and Carl about 3.5. Nothing to sneeze at.
