Personal:

I used to run for BYU, but only after trying out three times and finally walking on, so I was never a star. However, it was wonderful to run with great people and under Coach Shane. When you run with fast people, you can't help to improve! I graduated BYU in 1998, and didn't run a race until 2002, after having my second child. My hiatus and other crazy life commitments have made my competitive running suffer, but the last couple of years I have tried to get back into it the best I can. I have been married since 1996, to Paul Lowry, who is a runner himself. I have three boys (my three rascals), ages 12, 10, and 8.

After a great 2008 season, I was injured and eventually diagnosed and cross-diagnosed with Ankylosing Spondylitis, a type of arthritis disease, which precludes running for all but the most stubborn.  So I am on medications, trying to stay healthy, and seeing my PT often.  And running!  Now beating the streets in Hong Kong.

Aw, man, I did not get good sleep last night.  Had a hard time falling asleep.  I got out of bed after tossing and made sure all my recipes were printed out and all ingredients were accounted for (I am hosting Thanksgiving).  Then I researched races in Paris (we are going in about two weeks) and it looks like I found a 10k, so that should be really fun if I can swing a race while I'm there.

Two white dogs faintly illuminated as they ran toward me.  I am so scared of dogs.  My spray doesn't seem to be as helpful as I'd like it to be as they run at me, I turn around and run away. Chicken.

goal for week:  hit 90 miles, then I shouldn't gain weight, right?

eve: 4.2 miles around the park, 7:58 ave, it is getting cold earlier and earlier in the day.

wow ... how time flies, I did not realize that Paris was coming up so quickly!! Awsome! We ran a 10K in Spain and it was a blast. Running/racing is universal!

sorry about the dogs this morning. I actually don't mind them much - I just make myself really big (put up my arms) and yell loudly - it has worked (so far) with even the biggest dogs. I believe (from watching the dog whisperer ;-) ) that because dogs are pack animals they will generally back down from anyone they see as higher on the order than them and humans are generally higher (meaning they are scared of us most of the time). This is hard to remember when your heart gets beating though, I know!!

I am scared of dogs while running too. And so EXCITED for you about Paris. J'adore Paris! Are you going for fun? I think you mentioned it a while back, but I forgot. Enjoy the good exchange rate!
