Did a half a few years ago, unsure of my time but nothing to write home about. I trained about 6 months and then took about 2yrs. off. Started running again this year but have never done anything serious.

Short-Term Running Goals:

keep running, stay fit and healthy, while having fun. Would like to get my mileage up to 25 miles a week and plan some short races when I get confident with my speed.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Get my mileage back up and run pain free!

Started to run home after work this morning and about half way there, I realized that I didn't have anyone to get me back to my car untill around five today. So I decided to mix it up and wander the streets and then head back up to the hospital and just drive home. My calves were a little so from the two previous runs this weekk, but other than that felt pretty good inspite of being up all night! Even pushed myself towards the end. After sleeping for a few hours today when I got up calves still very sore. Can't figure out why they are always the only muscle to get sore, and why they do so often. I would think that with the regular use they get this wouldn't happen so often?

I still can't believe you can run after work- you go girl! Wish I had advice for you on the calves? Maybe some strength training? If you have a step, just let your heels hang off and do some up & down reps. Point your toes toward eachother while you do some, then away from eachother. We do these during my weight class at the gym and it seems to really help my calves...

My DH James' calves have been giving him trouble this season too. They have been doing much better since he stopped stretching them before his runs. (He stretches them after he gets back now.) I think that stretching cold muscles makes little micro tears that get aggravated by the exercise. Don't they say never to stretch cold muscles? Anyways, good luck and as always, good job.

I saw you say on Christi's blog that your daughter wants a blog...which one...there are several teenagers on the blog and our kids have their own. Our two year said after dinner today, "I want to run to you Mommy (to you means with you). I want my blog" It was really cute.
