Short-Term Running Goals:

keep running, stay fit and healthy, while having fun. Would like to get my mileage up to 25 miles a week and plan some short races when I get confident with my speed.

Ran three miles? this morning early with my husband.  He's faster than I am but because I am in a little better shape I think he really had to work to make it look like he was just a few paces ahead of me.  But it also pushed me too, which is good.  I don't have anything to record my speed and distance right now, but should have that all in place later this week.  When I run alone I have set distances that I usually do but since my husband was along and I didn't do my usual route, I'm just  averaging my didstance and no time today either.   After following people on the blog the last couple of weeks, I finally have gotten the courage to give it a go.  I have been really inspired by so many of you and hope by keeping track of my own runs that I will be able to see improvement and progress,so here goes!

Michelle - welcome to the blog! Nice to see an increase in the gender balance. It started out as pretty much men's only club with only my wife (Fast Running Mommy) and Maria being the only two women for a while.

When you run with your husband, keep up a good pace, but do not try to race him regardless of the possible outcome. Right now how far is more important than how fast, although you should still keep track of how fast as well just to see how you are progressing, how putting in the same effort overtime will start giving you faster times. I also recommend that you enter a road race as soon as possible to measure your fitness level.
