I took a couple of days off trying to let the knee heal (and work on my talk).  However, I could tell by yesterday that depression was setting in (I'll blame Marion for sending me whine but no cheese). Couldn't hardly drag myself out of bed this morning.

I forced myself to walk the dog for a mile before work.  After work, we did another 2 miles, pushing the pace some.  Then I walked uphill 2 miles to the Gold's Gym on 13th East.  Did some quad exercises. I'm going to try and do those 3 days a week and work the rest of the leg muscles 1 day per week to see if I can get the quads better balanced with the hamstrings.

45 minutes upper body workout.  15 minutes on the stationary bike. Started feeling the knee a bit then, so called it quits.  On the way home I alternated running 100 steps with walking 50 steps. If I didn't stride long or push the pace I was able to keep the knee pain down or below a 2.

It feels so good to be all sweaty again.

Nice workout! sorry for the whine :( I think I hit rock bottom last saturday. Now it's just melancholy ;) I sure hope your knee is ok. Hang tough sister. Soon enough we can get together for a long run on JRP. Maybe we should do a RHPC 1/2 in January some where warm. A girls only trip. Hmmmm....this is an idea that might just wriggle into a very good idea. What do you think. We can call it the RHPC "girls only" fight against WINTER Blues.

The idea has possibilities. Maybe a 10K or 10 miler - I'm not sure I will be up to a half marathon if my knee continues bugging me.

How is the hip today?

I am just needing something to train for. I have got to get a focus beyond injury :) It is driving me insane :)

the hip is better today. I finally decided to ice it and that has made all the difference...I think ;D I go back in today or tomorrow and we shall see what he says :)

I agree with you. I'm just thinking what level I might be at (without pushing for another injury) in January. By February I will definitely be back up to half marathon mileage - just not sure about a month earlier.

Hope you get some good news at the doctor.

Grrr - woke up sick today.

SICK??? really??? oh crap :(

Yes, I bet Feb would be better for me too. It is also the deepest darkest dreariest month of them all :(::::::

Smooth was wanting me to find a marathon that we could all travel too, a girls only thing for this winter. I think we should go to Hawaii but I have to buy a STUPID new furnace, so all of my fun money is going into heating my family instead of soothing my soul on a fun vacation. :(:::::::::

You could look at this one: http://www.lostdutchmanmarathon.org/ I ran it in 2008 and am considering it again this year. (It was the lead in to my 80+ mile week). They have a marathon, half, and 8K trail race. Partly on trails and part on the freeway (old Route 66). It's a tough course, but very pretty and a smaller race.

I might even be able to see if we could all crash at the house I stay at President's Day week down in Phoenix.

Oh my poor little broken friends! Get better soon, find a Feb race and I am all over it!!!!!! A girls winter getaway trip sounds positively devine!!!!

Girls winter trip? I am eavesdropping and inviting myself to the fun! :)

Maurine, I'm so glad you were able to 'get sweaty' again! We are strange people, because that sure is my idea of feeling good too!! Here's to quick healing so we can run off to a race soon.
