Here are the plans for next Saturday morning:

Group run on the Porter Rockwell and Draper Canal Trails.  Starting at 7 a.m.

Directions: Exit I-15 at 12300 South in Draper and head East. At 13th East, turn right.  You will go down a hill, around one of those traffic circle thingies, then a short block.  You will see the train tracks that cross the road.  Just to the RIGHT of the train tracks is a little park. Park there.

We will cross the road and head down the Porter Rockwell Trail. About .8 miles up the road you turn right on the Draper Canal Trail. The signs for both are very well marked. In fact, the first 3 miles of the Porter Rockwell Trail are acutally marked every .25 miles. We will run about 3 miles to the end of the Draper Canal Trail and then you head up a sidewalk less than a block to the Porter Rockwell Trail (they both used to end at Bangeter Highway). If you want to do a short run, just loop back to the left on the Porter Rockwell Trail. If you want a longer run, head across Bangeter and get back on the Porter Rockwell Trail (new section). This continues on another 2 miles to Point of the Mountain (warning - it gets very cold and windy on this section). Turn around where the trail ends and come back, this time on the Porter Rockwell Trail.

The canal trail is a very gentle uphill the way we are running it. Porter Rockwell trail has more ascents and descents.  For those who like to run trails - I tend to stick to the Equestrian portion of the trail on the side of the other trail.

The total trail this way is about 11 miles.  You can turn around and run more, or there are three small loops around the park where we start at.  Anyone getting there early can do some warmup miles, or you can continue running there afterwards.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

I really like these trails. Pretty views of the temple and not a lot of road crossings.

sounds great! I'm excited to see you all again this weekend, I may have to get a few extra in...I'd like to try for 18 this weekend, but we'll see what I'm feeling on Saturday :)

From Smooth on Sun, Apr 05, 2009 at 23:34:31 from 71.36.85.29

Sounds good to me. I have a 12 miler. It will be so fun. I just need to make sure I have a car on Sat. Is that traffic circle thingie a "round-about"? Do we exit the round-about onto 13th East?

From tarzan on Mon, Apr 06, 2009 at 00:00:36 from 97.117.61.168

Yes. Yes.

From leslie on Mon, Apr 06, 2009 at 14:53:58 from 76.23.61.78

Maurine, I think you should hide Easter Eggs on the route! Have fun hopping down the bunny trail!

From maurine/tarzan on Mon, Apr 06, 2009 at 15:15:03 from 63.255.172.2

Shhhh! I've already considered that. But I also don't think people want to carry the easter eggs for their runs.

From Marion on Mon, Apr 06, 2009 at 17:03:45 from 71.213.113.191

We don't have to carry the eggs, we can eat them :) or you can hide gu or sports beans :)

that sounds great! I will be there. The weather is supposed to be GREAT!!! I am so excited!

From Kelli on Tue, Apr 07, 2009 at 20:14:29 from 71.219.84.191

I will be there, too. What should I bring? SUGAR COOKIES??? Will anyone eat them if I bring them, because they would be very dangerous sitting in my car for the car ride home after!!!

From Maurine/Tarzan on Tue, Apr 07, 2009 at 20:48:05 from 97.117.61.168

Yeah - you better bring some cookies 'cuz you've made me crave them now.

From leslie on Tue, Apr 07, 2009 at 22:30:58 from 76.23.61.78

I went to Paradise Bakery today and ate 2 sugar cookies. I have been terrible today.

From Kelli on Tue, Apr 07, 2009 at 22:34:16 from 71.219.84.191

Leslie, I finally went to Paradise bakery and it is good. BUT the sugar cookies from Kneaders are 100 times better!!!!!

From Maurine/Tarzan on Tue, Apr 07, 2009 at 23:11:51 from 97.117.61.168

Stop taking over my thread with talk of cookies!

From leslie on Wed, Apr 08, 2009 at 10:32:44 from 76.23.61.78

I guess I am going to have to make a trip to Kneaders and check things out!

From Marion on Wed, Apr 08, 2009 at 10:34:34 from 71.213.108.234

NOOOooooooo Leslie! Don't do it! Don't succumb to the trashy talk!

No more talk of Sugar cookies! They are like crack to me! I have to eat them all when I get around them :(

From leslie on Wed, Apr 08, 2009 at 10:46:07 from 76.23.61.78

too late, I am on a mission to see who has the best sugar cookies. Nothing can stop me now! Hey, are your running over at Wheeler today? I want to get in another run.

From Kelli on Wed, Apr 08, 2009 at 13:34:53 from 71.219.84.191

Once you have had one, you will never go back!

From Kelli on Wed, Apr 08, 2009 at 13:35:24 from 71.219.84.191

As in NEVER go back to Paradise Bakery cookies, not never go back to Kneaders.

From Marion on Wed, Apr 08, 2009 at 13:55:07 from 71.213.105.58

Never, never, never.... I have to think about something else.

Kelli- are you going to bring cookies for Sat's run??? :) Just kidding, I want collard greens and lemon water :p

From this is silly on Wed, Apr 08, 2009 at 14:16:51 from 63.255.172.2

If you move my blog into a hot topic with your discussions of junk food I am going to be annoyed. You don't want to see me annoyed - do you?

From cookie monster on Wed, Apr 08, 2009 at 14:27:32 from 71.213.105.58

sorry, Maurine, I mean "this is silly" I won't say another word...

From leslie on Wed, Apr 08, 2009 at 16:16:17 from 76.23.61.78

Sorry Maurine, but I have to enlighten everyone, I had a Kneaders Cookie and I still prefer Paradise, call me lame or whatever, but I voting for Paradise Sugar Cookies, if I was going to run with you all Sat. I would bring them and we could do an offical taste test, but oh, well.

From Marion on Wed, Apr 08, 2009 at 16:18:04 from 71.213.105.58

Are these frosted? With TONS of pale pink frosting?

OK- for sat, we have hot chocolate and sugar cookies. If they are not frosted, I will have to bring some frosting :D

From leslie on Wed, Apr 08, 2009 at 16:20:36 from 76.23.61.78

Marion, the wierd thing is they are NOT frosted and I LOVE frosting, so I can't figure it out, but I think Paradise kicks butt!

From Marion on Wed, Apr 08, 2009 at 17:40:52 from 71.213.105.58

Are you happy now? I just ate some frosting!!!

From leslie on Wed, Apr 08, 2009 at 17:45:01 from 76.23.61.78

you make me so verrry happy, I am so glad you came into myyyy life!

From Marion on Wed, Apr 08, 2009 at 17:48:46 from 71.213.105.58

I just don't see why I can't eat anything I want whenever I want! OK- I do know why I can't, but it just isn't fair! Budgeting and self restraint! FU-EEEe!!!

From kelli on Wed, Apr 08, 2009 at 18:21:00 from 71.219.84.191

Leslie, we need to have your taste buds checked!!! Actually, on occasion, a Kneaders sugar cookie can be kind of dry. Maybe you went on the wrong day. See, I am sitting at my computer right now eating a Kneaders Sugar Cookie and it outranks the Pradise sugar cookie I had last Friday by, like, gazillions!!!!

Marion, the BIG sugar cookies are pale pink easter eggs right now, the little ones are pale yellow chicks. I am going to bring the little ones since I know we are all watching out weight (some of us are watching it go UP and others are watching it go DOWN!!!)

From leslie on Wed, Apr 08, 2009 at 18:26:23 from 76.23.61.78

Kelli, I beg to differ! The Paradise bakery cookies melt in your mouth, Kneaders are sorta dry and masked with frosting. You guys need to do a taste test Sat. !!!!

From Marion on Wed, Apr 08, 2009 at 18:31:39 from 71.213.105.58

my sugar cookies are made with a shortbread recipe and my frosting is made with 1 pound of butter and a box of powdered sugar and read vanilla. YUMMY!!! I like it with just a hint of pink in the frosting. Actually any very pale color is my favorite! I also like almond flavoring in the frosting too.

From Maurine/Tarzan on Wed, Apr 08, 2009 at 18:36:14 from 97.117.61.168

You guys (ok - ladies) are killing me. Do you know how hard I am working at eating healthy and all I hear are cookie arguments and cookie reviews?

I am really tempted to 'clear my cookies' from my browser and not come back again....

From leslie on Wed, Apr 08, 2009 at 18:41:07 from 76.23.61.78

you know you love it Maurine!

From leslie on Wed, Apr 08, 2009 at 18:42:06 from 76.23.61.78

and go have a cookie, everyone else is doing it.

From leslie on Wed, Apr 08, 2009 at 18:42:41 from 76.23.61.78

you just made the hot list

From Maurine/Tarzan on Wed, Apr 08, 2009 at 19:03:01 from 97.117.61.168

OK - I give in. Now you must push me to the top of the hot list :).

Kelli - rain is scheduled for Saturday. Make sure the cookies are covered.

From Kelli on Wed, Apr 08, 2009 at 19:08:41 from 71.219.84.191

Well, I will give you that they can sometimes be dry. I hate it when that happens. You will have to try them again. The best day to go is going to be Monday, when Easter is over. They will have new themed cookies out (I bet flowers) and they will for sure be fresh!

Do you know that the S Jordan Kneaders did all of the cookies for the Draper Temple open house? And the Herriman Kneaders will be doing all of the cookies for the Daybreak temple? See, even God prefers Kneaders (I will be struck by lightening for saying that!)

From Kelli on Wed, Apr 08, 2009 at 19:09:40 from 71.219.84.191

I just noticed you changes your blog title! You are funny!

From leslie on Wed, Apr 08, 2009 at 19:10:43 from 76.23.61.78

I am laughing my head off!!!!!!!!

From Marion on Wed, Apr 08, 2009 at 23:49:41 from 71.219.49.131

I love you Maurine! I just had beans and rice with tomatoes and avocado :) I am so cool!

From Marion on Wed, Apr 08, 2009 at 23:53:34 from 71.219.49.131

I did not like any of the cookies at the open house :( I am a cookie snob and they were boring. maybe I should make y'all some real sugar cookies! ;)
