Headed out this morning to run the Pipeline Trail up  Millcreek Canyon.  Ran 4.5 miles to the overlook and drank 16 oz of fluids.  I saw a little trail heading up from there and hiked up it, thinking it only went a short ways up.  After a half mile of scrambling and hiking, the trail still continued on, but was really rough, so turned around.  I ran back a mile or so to the Rattlesnake Gulch trail and ran .65 down that (hoping it did not live up to its name).  Hiked back up and drank the rest of my fluids and finished my stinger pack.

It was getting hot out and I don't think I have drank enough liquids this week because I started to bonk.  Alternated walking and running (running in the shadier areas) but my body was really struggling.  At the stream above Church Fork I took a risk and wet down my hat and also drank 24 ounces of water out of the stream in less than a minute. I could have drank a lot more - but am worried enough about giardia as it is.  After that I was able to run the remaining 1.5 miles back.

I stopped at Dan's and bought a 16 oz bottle of chocolate milk and inhaled that.  I can tell I must have dehydrated myself a touch because it has been 5 hours since I needed to use the bathroom last.

What an adventure, I hope you don't get sick young lady! The heat is mean and nasty. Nice miles, that is hard work! Enjoy your day off. I mentioned on fb that I may do the Cottonwood trail tomorrow at 3, are you at all interested?

That sounds like a good plan - if we take it easy in the heat. That would put me at 14.5 if I take Twi on the Pipeline Trail for 8 early in the morning.

Can Twilight do 8 miles? Or do you carry her part of it? How does that work? I will look forward to seeing you tomorrow at 3!!! I will do alot of walking, I lost my running mojo, maybe I will make it a goal to TRY and keep up on the way down, or not, we shall see. Harold said he biked in the afternoon yesterday and sweat off 5 pounds, maybe that will happen to us and then we will be hot sexy mamas!!

I'd just be a hot, sweaty mama!

Yeah - you could do it on the way down. Bring plenty of water and we can rest for awhile at the top.

Twilight has done 6.2 miles on the Pipeline Trail last Saturday. I'm thinking of trying to get on the trail before 8 tomorrow and carry water for her and see if she can do all 8 on her own. (She is in better shape than 'some peoples' dogs).

How are you feeling today??? I've read several places that chocolate milk is a post-run genius drink ... just can't get myself to drink it yet. :)

I am feeling totally lazy and unmotivated today and enjoying that immensely.

Good, maybe then you won't be cracking the whip on me this afternoon!

I'm gonna have to try this pipeline trail. Is it steep?

Steve - the portion I like to run from Burch Hollow to the lookout and back is 9.5 miles and just has small uphills and downhills. I've done a few faceplants on it when I've caught a toe - but not technical at all. The biggest thing to watch out for is bikers coming up too quickly. Probably my favorite place to run regularly.
